Carnivore on Rogan

https://open.spotify.com/episode/38aFwbmJSYCezCcAVHbWk0?si=NBeMDxTnSXeccPKo3Sgftw

Interesting. Guy cured his eczema and then tried squash and his eczema came back. He talks about plant toxins, and I was hoping he would mention VA, but no... squash is a VA bomb.
Anyway, this guy is selling organs in pillform, pushes raw liver and talks about how good that is for you.

So, could e.g. liver from a healthy animal be good for us, or are all livers and organs VA bombs too?

Liver is the worst thing you could eat.

It doesn't matter if it's from organic or factory farming animals. Liver will be always high in retinol. How much vit A you can eat without any problems depends on many factors. If you are really healthy, have plenty of vit D from the sun, live natural life without stress, EMF and you have very low exposure to all toxins that are everywhere today. I think you can eat good amount of liver and be ok.. But that is not a case for most people. So for most people liver is not a good idea. Other organs like heart is not that high in vit A and is ok I think. It has plenty of CoQ10 and good amount of zinc etc..

Yeah, that is what I thought, trying to steel man the guy though, sad thing that potentially millions will see that episode and start eating VA bombs and supplementing with his organ pills

Apparently a lot of misinformation stated in that episode in case anyone is interested:

Paul Saladino on Joe Rogan Experience: Hype vs. Evidence

LDLs are carrier particles of retinol, and retinyl esters. LDLs are probably a defensive measure the body uses to protect cells from being overly exposed to those toxic molecules.

In this interview Paul says that his LDL is at 533 mg/dL. I think that is a clear indicator that he’s already being adversely affected by the liver & kidney consumption he’s so strongly advocating for. It’s scary that his message is now being broadcast to such a large audience.

Vitamin A toxicity is associated with very high lipoprotein-bound retinyl ester levels in plasma, marked increases in vitamin A in brain, and marked increases in plasma triglycerides (Olson, 1983).

@ggenereux2014 yes, I took note of that as well. Really high number. Made me think of the thread you made here:

https://ggenereux.blog/discussion/topic/blood-pressure-and-cholesterol-levels/

And yes, indeed scary. At one point I think he mentions the high one gets from eating these organs. Wonder what that could be!

I have heard people discuss the high gotten from raw liver on other forums.  Perhaps it is about B12?

Interesting 🙂

I'm not promoting carnivore but to contribute to this thread the godfather of carnivore Owsley "Bear" Stanley who ate carnivore for decades said this:

"The one meat that needs to eaten sparingly is liver,
which contains a lot of starch (glycogen) and vit. A which is toxic in excess.
Excess may be as little as one ounce of the liver of an animal feeding on fish."

" I would suggest going easy
on liver, it is starchy can fatten you and poison you with Vit A if you eat too
much or too often."

"Occasional liver, maybe a few ounces- every month or two, your liver has
the ability to store it. It is unlikely you would love it so much as to eat enough
of it so you got vit A poisoning. Your only worry about amount and frequency
is the fattening starch (glycogen) in it. Everyone needs some A. "

"Making offal the major part of an all meat diet is very unwise. Especially be
careful of liver, which WILL cause a serious, life threatening type of poisoning,
as well as being very fattening due its high percentage of glycogen (starch). A
proper all meat regime should be based on skeletal muscle tissues for health."

"I eat that way, I only eat offal maybe once in a great while, sometimes two years
will pass with no liver (vit A is stored in one’s own liver), and no other offal."

"Avoid eating carby animal food, like
lactose (dairy) and more than a very small, occasional, few ounces of liver"

"Trust me, I have eaten as a total carnivore for 48 years, I am nearly 72 and
I still have much the same body as I did at 30. Experience is the ONLY proof.
The rules of the path are so simple as to be a no-brainer.
They reduce to the following:
• Eat only food from animals
• No vegetables
• Limit liver intake
• Avoid liquid milk (except for butter and cheese)
• Eat as much fat as you like
• Don’t cook your food much
• Avoid salt"
