Alcohol intolerance - article and symptoms

Even if You Don't Drink, Alcohol Intolerance May be the Cause of Your Symptoms!

https://davidjernigan.blogspot.com/2015/09/are-you-sick-or-hungover-alcohol.html?m=1&fbclid=IwAR0Nc8YGgFm4AIoNilr2ltR6Uw3Ka4-04Z79nTGd0dd6vBRGKjuHgYfWz4w

Maybe some of us have these symptoms on low VA diet or when we eat, trink something what overtaxes ALDH, ADH enzymes - I often felt at the beginning like to be drunk.

How many of these symptoms of alcohol intolerance do you have?

• Fatigue and weakness

• Thirst

• Headaches and muscle aches

• Nausea, vomiting or stomach pain

• Poor or decreased sleep

• Increased sensitivity to light and sound

• Dizziness or a sense of the room spinning

• Shakiness

• Decreased ability to concentrate

• Mood disturbances, such as depression, anxiety and irritability

• Rapid heartbeat

• Asthma, wheezing

• Rashes, flushing

• Heartburn

• Cognitive disturbances, brain fog

Many theories have been presented as to why women** are more sensitive to the effects of alcohol than men. The dominant theory used to be that body mass is greater in men, making them more tolerant to alcohol. Research has now shown this to be incorrect, and that the primary reason is women produce less of the enzymes Alcohol Dehydrogenase (ADH) and Aldehyde Dehydrogenase 2 (ALDH2), which can lead to 30% higher blood alcohol levels for the same amount of alcohol consumed as men.

*An additional factor for women is hormone differences from men. Research suggests that the menstrual cycle and the use of any medication that affects the liver (because of the change in hormones) may intensify a woman’s response to alcohol. Women have been shown to develop their highest blood alcohol concentrations immediately before menstruating, and their lowest on the first day of menstruation.

Nutrients for improving alcohol metabolism are Lipospheric Glutathione, N-Acetyl Cysteine (NAC), as well as vitamins B1, B2, B3, B5, B6, (Use a high potency B-Complex), and vitamin C, and minerals such as Molybdenum, Zinc, and Magnesium. The herb, Milk Thistle has been shown to be beneficial in liver regeneration from alcohol damage. While these nutrients can help with alcohol metabolism, almost all of the people we see with chronic illness take these nutrients and still have issues with alcohol. This is because without the actual two necessary enzymes, you will still not be able to break down the alcohol and acetaldehyde.

I am going to try NAC, (sublingual glutathione), alpha lipoic acid, milk thisle for better alcohol metabolism and liver support. (with caution  - these supplements can stirr up heavy metals)

Mikhaila Peterson said in her YT video that dihydromyricetin helps her combat effects of drinking alcohol. She mentioned a rat study, where dihydromyricetin allegedly worked wonders, but did not attach a direct reference to it. The drug is not easily available, at least in Europe.

Why oh why do I still drink alcohol?

@lil-chick, I stopped my regular wine consumption. I realized when I take lactoferrin, it takes away my wish to go and buy a bottle of wine. I have no idea why it does that, but it does! Maybe my body is so damaged from vitamin A that it does not make enough lactoferrin itself and that is what makes the desire to take a glass of wine?

It really is mysterious. I stopped the lactoferrin use some moths ago and imagine, all of a sudden I found myself going to the wine store again!! I restarted the lactoferrin, and the urge disappeared again! So I decided for now I am going to eat it.

Thanks Inger, that is so weird!    I wonder if it would help all people addicted to alcohol, or only the VA-toxic ones?

I can't help but wonder if there is something in wine that I crave.

@pawel for metabolizing alcohol you need micronutrients like bludicka said B vitamins and especially molybdenum and other essential micronutrients. So taking some drugs thinking it will be good long term when you know that if you drink you just keep depleting key essential micronutrients can't work obviously.. I had alcohol intolerance when I was in my teens and I couldn't drink like other kids could. I think my liver is simply bad in detoxing all kinds of stuff in general. Just wonder how much it is just micronutrient deficiency and how much genetics.. Would love to do some genetic testing, but it is expensive AF..

great question, that would be interesting to know! I do know I am not the only one it works like this for. The lady in the health store i bought it from told me about some of her customers that had similar effect. You should try it out so we could know more! 😉

You are strong though taking just one glass. For me it usually ended up being two or three :/

I dislike wine and spirits but enjoy beer. I don't drink it often though due to understanding the health effects of alcohol and due to the high cost of it.

I can now metabolize alcohol better than ever before. I can binge drink and feel fine the next day. This is helpful for the odd occasion where alcohol consumption is important socially.

I'm happy to live without beer. One thing that helps is to make tasty non alcoholic beverages. My favourite beverages are: weak instant coffee, chai tea with just a tiny amount of milk, pineapple juice, pomegranate juice (contains vA but has great health benefits) and cola.

Most of what one drinks should be unfluoridated water or beverages made from unfluoridated water.

I also make a tasty lemon electrolyte drink using a small amount of magnesium chloride, potassium chloride and salt with the juice of half a lemon and three heaped dessert spoons of glucose powder served in a large glass. It's especially refreshing after exercise.
