Creaky / grinding joints

Page 1 of 2Next

I’m 23 and the joints in my fingers don’t feel smooth when I move my fingers after keeping them still. It’s difficult to describe. It’s like a grinding sensation. You can’t actually hear my joints, but I can feel it.

If I get other people to put their hand over mine and I start moving my fingers after keeping them still for a little bit, they can also feel that sensation in my hand and fingers.

The best way I can describe it is creaky joints in my hands? (Without any noise).

Has anyone else had this? If so, have you managed to see any improvement?

@tommy do you have any other health issues? Mainly with digestion?

@jiri

Too many, and they’ve all come at once and my health has been spiralling downwards ever since.

I’ll give you a summary timeline, it won’t include everything, just main things.

Never had any health issues in my teens.

20 years old: Got seborrheic dermatitis. Started developing tendonitis all over my body from physical activity.

21 years old: Chronic staph infection, sciatica.

This part is important. My chronic tendinitis fked my life the most out of all of them. I had to quit soccer (knee tendinitis), surfing (shoulder tendinitis) and video games (thumb tendinitis). The thumb tendinitis and other joint issues has basically fked my career in software. Since then I’ve never participated in my favourite activities ever again and have been in constant fear over my career.

This drove me down an obsessive path to find a cure. Unfortunately I found the carnivore community before I found this one.

I never had the slightest digestive issue in my life, after three months of carnivore and the crazy high fat recommendations I developed chronic gastritis and now can’t tolerate any fat whatsoever. Lost 20kg as a result and no doctors can help me.

So the answer is yes I do have major digestion issues, but I’m not sure it’s related to any of my other health issues that have brought me here.

This was probably too much info but I couldn’t think of a way to put it simply.

@tommy so something happened in your 20s. What was your life like before you had seborrheic dermatitis? A lot of stress mental or physical? What was your diet like? Any meds as a kid or amalgams, surgery etc..? Btw playing video games is really bad to your health. I was playing on line strategy games for many years and it was one big part of my health issues. It keeps the body in stress mode. Your body is dumping adrenaline all the time when you play and over time especially if you play many hours every day like I was.. It really can ruin your health.. Sports do the same thing. It's just more natural to get stressed from physical activity than from playing PC games...

@jiri I blame the health problems I currently have on the enormous amounts of milk I drank as a kid/teenager. I drank full cream UHT long life milk every day as part of several bowls of cereal I would have for breakfast in addition to other ways of consuming it each day.

I eventually had to quit milk because it was causing really obvious seb derm flare ups. Since quitting my seb derm has never nearly been as bad as it was.

Stumbling across Grant’s work really struck a note with me, especially his focus on milk, pasteurisation, casein and conversion of VitA to RA. Obviously this lines up with my dietary history perfectly.

To answer your other questions, I did have a lot of mental stress from finishing high school and Uni as well as other things. No physical stress that I’m aware of other than maybe a bit of sleep deprivation. I took ritalin for 2 months at the end of high school after I was diagnosed with ADHD, I stopped because I didn’t like how it was changing me.

Other than the excessive dairy consumption my diet was shit, I was a dumb teen who was strong, arrogant, athletic and lean. Never took much note of diet (so I thought) as I never had any problems being in good shape.

I agree with your point on video games, I much prefer sport, but I can’t play sport anymore. I only ever played video games on the rare occasion. It would just be good to get to play with my friends when they ask me to jump online, I do miss it.

@tommy was meat in your diet? If not it looks like you had low zinc. Maybe even iron, copper, selenium, some B vitamins etc.. Did you ejaculate often in your teens? I was.. and in combination with junk food diet low in key micronutrients like zinc, selenium etc. no wonder I crushed and I had also skin issues. I had every form of acne that you can imagine. Before that I had really bad digestive issues. Probably because I am maybe celiac or have really bad gluten sensitivity and I had gluten daily..

@jiri I think you’re right, I’m imagining there were plenty of b vitamin deficiencies and maybe other mineral deficiencies. I ate a fair bit of meat, I was by no means a vegan, but I’m not sure I ate enough meat to compensate for a potential chronic vitA poisoning + other unbalanced factors in my life.

I was a big fapper in my teens so yes, all the time.

What are your issues now/pre-diet?

@tommy Well I had many issues and vit A toxicity was one of them for sure. I need to do some tests ideally blood and hair as well. So I can see what I need to work on.. Detoxing vit A takes a long time. I am on low A diet for like 3 close to 4 years. Hard to tell if I still have a lot of vit A in the liver..

@jiri have you had improvements?

@tommy yes I have less issues related to liver health like fatigue, better blood flow and I also don't have symptoms related to vit A toxicity like very dry a pealing skin, dry and red eyes, bad sun sensitivity, head pressure etc. But I still have issues like fat digestion/bad bile flow, pressure in liver area etc.. Like I said I need to do testing to see how looks my iron, copper. I don't know what is my problem now.. I have also issues with thyroid for many many years elevated TSH in numbers like 8+ which is really not good and I can't figure why is my TSH so high.. Free T4 and Free T3 are in the middle of the range..
