Quick and easy breakfast?
Quote from Keero on March 10, 2019, 1:16 pmHey there,
Hoping to get some suggestions for a quick and easy breakfast.
After reading @orion's comments in regards to oats containing lutein/zeathanthin I will most likely drop them.
Having been 'accutaned' I'm ideally aiming for zero to very low vitamin a.
Thanks
🙂

Quote from Mokus on March 10, 2019, 1:50 pmPersonally I will have my rice and meat for breakfast as well. Although my daughter is not. So I took Orion's idea and made Meringue Rice. I cook white short grain rice, make a meringue with ground coconut sugar. Mix some of it in the rice and the rest on top and bake for 15-20 minutes.

Egg white omelette with white vegetables, like parnips, celeriac, cauliflower. I haven't tried this.
Maybe puffed rice with some honey in some kind of rice milk or low-va nut milk.

If you are very sensitive safest option is probably rice, as most alternatives (just like oats) have small/trace amounts of one carotenoid or another.

An independent lab here has done tests in how to lower arsenic in rice. Cook it like pasta, in much water, and then drain away the water. This loweres arsenic by half. Soaking only made no diffetence if cooked in the usual way (1 rice 2 water).
Organic does not have less arsenic than conventional, but in all rice tested, yasmine and basmati was lower overall. Brown rice was worst due to lots of arsenic being in the hull. But this is mecessaeily not true for the rice in other countries, it depends on where they grow and where they are imported from. The water the rice grows in is one factor just as the soil it grows in. And organic arsenic vs inorganic.
