6- year update
Quote from Sergio on April 15, 2025, 4:09 pmHi everyone!
It's been a while since I last posted here , I've been low a for 6 years now and I feel that I've improved a lot in some areas but I'm still struggling in other areas.
I took accutane in 2010 and I got anxiety, depression, memory problems and concentration problems . After finishing my course, I felt like a 70 year old man, I took it for about 4 months. I did about 3years of vegan diet after my course thinking I was detoxing from accutane lol I messed it all up.
I found out about Grant's diet through @Orion and I started it right away. It took a while to see improvements but my cognitive function started to improve , I can think clearer now and i am less depressed, the only thing that hasn't improved much is this tiredness, I'm literally exhausted all the time . There is something wrong with my heartbeat, I got some exams done but there isn't anything wrong with my heart according to the doctor, I still feel anxiety , sometimes it hits me really bad and I believe I am deficient in some vitamin or maybe it's the A poison doing its job. It has affected my life so much , I am still going but sometimes it's very hard. I am a teacher here in Brazil and my profession doesn't help much , for a 35 year old man , being exhausted all the time is not good at all.
I have this numb feeling on my brain , it started a few weeks ago, It happens when I am more tired and stressed, I'm not sure what to do about it . I do eat vitamin A foods from time to time , but it doesn't happen often.
Any suggestions ?
I hope you guys are doing well.
Wish you all the best,
Sérgio

From what you told so far I would start taking vitamin B1 for sure. Thiamin HCL(100-1500mg) and/or with benfotiamin(100-1000mg) and with it small dose b complex in active form + magnesium bisglycinate. B1 is hard to get and very easy depleted during stress, eating a lot of refined carbs..

Quote from Griffin on April 18, 2025, 1:26 pm@sergio Im curious what your current diet looks like? I just finished my first year on low A and haven't seen much progress. Sounds like you've been at it for a while now. I was also on accutane 10 years ago and have some doubt's on whether I'll be able to reverse all of the damage its caused.
Or none of this could be related to vitamin A and I'm dead wrong. Still trying to wrap my head around this theory, but found Grants ebooks fairly compelling.

"There is something wrong with my heartbeat" are you eating enough potassium compared to sodium; how much caffeine use
"I did about 3years of vegan diet" this could have induced a copper overload
"I have this numb feeling on my brain , it started a few weeks ago, It happens when I am more tired and stressed" sounds like cortisol or serotonin elevation
Thanks for the tips , man ! I'm not sure about my potassium and sodium intake, i do eat bananas from time to time.. not many,, about 1 or 2 a day. Caffeine, very little ..about 2 or 3 days a week and less than half a cup..
I ate a raw vegan diet for about 2 years..that made things worse for sure.. How can I balance my copper levels?
I find that I get stressed/ anxious easily, I used to feel anxious all the time before I started my low VA diet. I can somewhat manage my stress and anxiety now but it is still a problem for me.

I decided to quit one school and I am currently working at a school in the morning and I'm working with online classes at home , it's less stressful but it still exhaustive . I was fit and very active , never had problems with mood or stress management. I see this low va diet as a blessing from God, I am improving , slowly but improving.

I forgot to mention my diet . I need to be honest and say that I was very low on my va intake for about the first 2 years, eating rice , potatoes , beans and beef. From the third year to now , I have been eating rice, beans, bananas, lemons, beef and chicken, coffee , cashew nuts , brazil nuts.. my food was cooked using sunflower and oil , sometimes olive. I decided to try coconut oil but it made me feel worse.. after I went on this diet, I've been doing my best to avoid high VA foods , but I used to eat a burguer once a week at Burguer king ( whopper ) lol .. this cheating day kept me going !
It's been a week since I decided to eat very low A again, rice , beans , beef , not using any cooking oil now, banana and a lemon 2 or 3 days a week.
I've been taking magnesium bisglycinate for a while now.
Thanks for your tips on the Bcomplex vitamins, i'll look into it!

Keep going brother! I've had a really tough time but God has been with me . Life was almost unbearable a few years ago , If Christ wasn't with me through this , I wouldn't have made it to here . God has given me strength , and I'll pray for all of you . May he give you peace and health!
I'm sure the solution is this low va diet, my health has been improving since I started it , slowly but it has improved . Try to keep your VA intake very low , exercise and have faith, you'll get better!
