@sergio I didn't say just B complex vitamins. I said specifically vitamin B1. Because it is the first and the most important B vitamin that gets depleted very easily by eating refined carbs like white rice(that's why Japan did a lot of research and even invented the most effective form of vitamin B1 which is allthiamin TTFD, because they were eating a lot of white rice + raw fish like tuna which depletes B1 even more..) and also stress depletes all B vitamins, but B1 specifically the most.

Also don't forget that magnesium will deplete B1 if you take just magnesium and you run low in B1.. Btw this does many people take just magnesium and have no idea what thiamin is and get worse and worse..

Overton is great source of information about thiamin

Hi everyone!

It's been a while since I last posted here , I've been low a for 6 years now and I feel that I've improved a lot in some areas but I'm still struggling in other areas.

I took accutane in 2010 and I got anxiety, depression, memory problems and concentration problems . After finishing my course, I felt like a 70 year old man, I took it for about 4 months. I did about 3years of  vegan diet after my course thinking I was detoxing from accutane lol I messed it all up.

I found out about Grant's diet through @Orion and I started it right away. It took a while to see improvements but my cognitive function started to improve , I can think clearer now and i am less depressed, the only thing that hasn't improved much is this tiredness, I'm literally exhausted all the time . There is something wrong with my heartbeat, I got some exams done but there isn't anything wrong with my heart according to the doctor, I still feel anxiety , sometimes it hits me really bad and I believe I am deficient in some vitamin or maybe it's the A poison doing its job. It has affected my life so much , I am still going but sometimes it's very hard. I am a teacher here in Brazil and my profession doesn't help much , for a 35 year old man , being exhausted all the time is not good at all.

I have this numb feeling on my brain , it started a few weeks ago, It happens when I am more tired and stressed, I'm not sure what to do about it . I do eat vitamin A foods from time to time , but it doesn't happen often.

Any suggestions ?

I hope you guys are doing well.

Wish you all the best,

Sérgio

Try calcium. I’ve found it to be super important. It’s the most abundant mineral in the body. Is used in so many metabolic processes. Increases the hco3- content of the bile. Which protects the bile ducts and allows it to flow better. It is used to synthesize bile acids. Helps create and release dopamine. Our diets are all very low in it. I’ve been taking the RDA.

Sergio,  while reading through some of your older posts,  I saw  parsnips  was a food  you included  in your diet.  Do you have a recipe  you could share for a tasty parsnips dish?  I  have tried just boiling and lightly seasoning them, but have not found a recipe  that  I like.   Thank you!

@nate-2 I struggle with getting enough calcium like forever. What form and when/how are you taking your calcium? I found so far the least problematic calcium citrate and take like 2-3 times a day 1/3 of a tsp. I put it on the food, especially if it's high in oxalates to lower oxalate absorption or I just put it in the water with magnesium citrate.. I also drink some mineral water rich in calcium.. I think if you keep vit A low and don't consume excess of oxalates or any calcium antagonists/chelators you don't need that much calcium. But still if someone is on classic low vit A diet there should be some extra calcium source that's for sure..

I think I get a ton of calcium.    I have hard well water, and I do some dairy (and I thrive on dairy, unlike my husband).    I pay a ton for the milk I drink which is organic and un-adulterated.    The wapf runs an international list of "real milk" providers.   Raw milk has other things too, such as vitamin C, some B vitamins, and probiotics.   A person could skim it, but I don't.    I need some fats.

@lil-chick is that well water tested for metals/minerals? It could be too high in stuff like iron, copper, manganese etc..

I bet it is!   If only my husband would install our RO system!   hahaha

I take calcium citrate at the level of the rda spread out through my meals. Your ancestry determines a lot of how much you need. If your ancestors consumed a lot of dairy you will need a lot of calcium.

I've started eating reuterii yogurt that I make with raw milk. I eat one tablespoon of it a day. Raw dairy is worlds different from pasteurized dairy; the same goes for raw cheese. Currently I'm eating two raw eggs and chicken daily for the bulk of my vitamin A intake. I'm getting maybe 50% of the RDA?
