Adrenal glands

Has anyone recovered function in the adrenal glands on the No A diet? I almost died a 2017 when my cortisol level was almost zero. At the time, tests showed that my pituitary was functioning properly and that I had no antibodies to the adrenals, so it was just said to be "of unknown cause." A later test by another doctor showed a small number of anti-bodies.

The endocrinologist told me I would be taking steroids for the rest of my life. If this is an auto-immune problem, perhaps the low-vitamin A diet will correct it? I'm hoping that someone has had luck reversing adrenal insufficiency and can give me advice about how to get off the hydro-cortisone.

I've been able to lower my dose of hydro-cortisone again. I'm now down from 25 mgs per day to 17.5. I plan to continue to reduce the amount unless I feel dramatically worse. I assume my adrenal glands are recovering, but I don't know how to test for that.

Any suggestions?

Wow that is great news.    I have loved ones who also seem to be low in adrenal output... I guess over time I've read the adrenals like vit C, healthy fats, salt, no sugar- roller-coaster and REST.  I think happiness counts too.

Lil chick: I've gotten the hydro-cortisone down to 15 mgs. I was also taking fludro-cortisone and I've reduced that by a third. I just got back from the Dr.'s office and she said I can cut it down until I don't feel well. I've been on low A for 5 months now. I don't know how quickly the adrenals can heal, but I really can't tell when the meds wear off anymore, so I probably have some function returning. The doctor said that can't happen, but I told her to wait and see!

Hi @judy

How are you doing now?

@lil-chick

Love the recommendations, I suspect I might have low adrenals.

Hi @tommy,

I have recently cut down on my dye exposures, which may be a particular problem for me, or not?    I started a thread on it.  You may want to cut to the end of the thread and cut to the chase.

I'm sleeping better.

Strangely, suddenly I'm needing less salt and having less muscle cramps.

It's too early to tell anything for sure though.

I'm sure that environmental exposures are a good thing to get rid of, and some people might have more trouble with one or another.

Doctor’s tests showed that my adrenal glands are not working properly (nearly 3 years after the Covid vaccine). I did feel like I was in fight or flight for many months a week after the vaccine. I think this is one reason why many people have low level anxiety/fear since Covid (not the only reason). Doctor suggested steroids which I refused. I wonder if this is also why vitamin D is being pushed on people - to keep them going with a steroid, just propping them up until complete burnout.
