Hello,

First I would like to thank Grant Genereux for his work, his three free ebooks and this forum have been paradigm shifting for me.

Also thanks to puddleduck which is the reason why I'm here :), (after a comment I read on hormonesmatter.com).

I'm 39 old, my health took a dive after a roaccutane course in 1995-96, and the two additional courses in 1997 and 1999 which culminated in a toxic shock, but things really went downhill after a turbinectomy in 2005 and a appendectomy in 2006.

Since then I've been in survival mode constantly looking for a cure whether through conventional or alternative methods. Among the countless things I tried were very high vitamin A diets, animal and plant based, and vit A supplementation on top of it.

I'm now on a low vitamin A diet since January, almost two month, an what was encouraging is that after the first month my long time white heavy coated tongue started to clear and is now mainly back to normal (chewing mastic gum could have also contributed, but it was introduced later and intermittently).

Main symptoms :

- Unholily oily face and scalp, seborrheic dermatitis, redness, yellow complexion
- Very dry skin, lips, eyes
- Restless sleep
- Digestive issues
- Chronic fatigue
- Heat/Cold intolerance
- Photophobia / Night blindness
- Brain fog
- Respiratory issues, post nasal drip (could be related to 2006 turbinectomy)
- Frequent urination
- Prostate issues
- Spider veins
- White hair
- Periodontal disease
- Food intolerance to fats, gluten, dairy, legumes, beans, nuts, seeds, soy
- Extreme allergic reactions to quinoa, buckwheat, chia, pumpkin seeds
- White tongue (clearing)

Diet alone for someone with my health history might not be enough (or would take a ungodly long time) so I'm planning to do all that is in my power to try to enhance the process by doing some radical cleansing, starting now! :

I'm on day eight of a eleven days dry fast, which basically is abstaining from foods and liquids. For those interested in knowing more : https://www.reddit.com/r/Dryfasting/

My new experimental diet after this will be : brown rice, rice proteins, dried grapes, and maybe shiitake and white mushrooms.

Supplementation : B-complex, vitamin C, vitamin k2.

Sorry for the long post, and thank you for reading

Wowzer, I'm amazed that you have been able to fast, and wonder if that shows that your body has some strength in there.  🙂

Welcome!  I hope to hear more about your progress over time!

Welcome @adrien-2

I am a two round accutane survivor as well, with a symptom list to match yours, especially the unholy oiliness!  Even though skin is excessively oily it is dry flaky as well.   This is all normalizing, with healing occurring first on body, and the face/scalp still catching up.   I am close to 2.5yrs on low VA, so just be patient, it is a long journey.

I would suggest using white rice as well, animal protein, maybe olive oil, and some type of fiber for a bile binder, mushrooms will work here (also beans, charcoal, pysllium).

My thoughts on fasting is that is will stall VA excreting, and wouldn't recommend it.   I think you need protein, minerals, carbs for energy, fat to stimulate bile, and binders to collect/excrete VA in quantity.

@adrien-2 pls stop with fasting. It is ironical, but fast is good only for healthy people who can handle that insane amount of stress.. Your health will be worse after the fast than before. It is not rocket science.. I was there as well.. Also that experimental diet looks really bad. You need animal protein mainly red meat and also broth from conective tissue rich cuts of animals is a good idea for anti inflammatory , healing proteins(glycine). You are probably deficient in zinc, B1,B2, molybdenum.. You will not rebuild your body on brown rice and rice protein that's madness..

I think of fasting now as similar to other things I know I "can't do" but should be able to do.  I assume that these things are all probably good things in their own right, and good to dabble in, but need to be done with caution and control.  Sunshine, beans...

My idea of fasting right now is trying to avoid snacking and just drinking water between meals, LOL.

Fasting is the best way to crush the immune system and white tongue from fast(candida overgrowth) being the first sign of it.

@rockarolla

From your research, it seems like everything that's thought to be key to relieve symptoms and heal is immunosuppressive... I'm curious to learn what are the things to do to have a strong immune system in your opinion?

Beef(at least 1.5 grams of pure proteins per kg)+rice based diet, avoid undereating(cortisol), stress-free life and environment, dropping weight to the ideal number, limiting fats(not only pufa but excess saturated fats too), no supplements.

Limiting fructose could be beneficial too: https://file.scirp.org/pdf/OJI20110200003_20641104.pdf

Grant's diet is ideal 😀

Karen Hurd seems to have some of the same recommendations you have. She is big on lean animal proteins for the immune system and says that fructose does weaken the immune system. She loves PUFA fat though.

Is there something special about rice, or is it just the safest starch/energy source?
