Alcohol tollerence

After less than one year of somewhat low vitamin-a diet i have seemingly regained a higher tolerance of alcohol with less hangover. is this something other people have experienced?

Long story short: As we know, ethanol consumption DUMPS retinol from your liver, and retinoic acids basically disappear. Maybe this is why it feels so good to people. But the "vitamin A" doesn't disappear…. It seems to get re-SHUFFLED into other retinyl esters.

Hi @to

Another quote from the link:  "But I do think that somewhere in here, we have one reason why some people drink so damn much."

Super interesting.   Yes, alcohol tolerance is something that we have discussed on and off through the years here at this site.   Let me see what I can remember.

Some people have even said that alcohol intolerance may be a tell-tale symptom of VA overload.   I mentioned in my log that alcohol intolerance was one of my symptoms, and yes, people who came before me here told me it would get slowly better over time.   It has been mentioned that alcohol detoxes down the same pathways as VA.   People have said that when they would sometimes use alcohol to lesson VA detox symptoms.   And yes, as your article states, people have said that it makes VA leave the liver and go into the tissues (for good or bad).

I have wondered if low daily amounts of alcohol could even be beneficial (what is the French paradox for instance, is it the wine?).  and yet I have also seen that anything above "very low" tends to backfire and make me feel like crap in the long run.    (like less than half a shot).   My worst VA symptom I have had... I now call "chronic vomiting" which was, in retrospect, due to chronic poisoning... from VA and alcohol and other things like amines (such as in long cooked BBQ or aged sausage).   Alcohol was often involved, adding to the pot, making my body decide I was poisoned and everything must GO-- out both ends.

Personally I have gone on and off alcohol many times while I have been here, LOL.    Right now I am again struggling to keep off the booze but the lure is so strong.    I don't want to binge, all I want is that one drink per day at dinner!   But I tell ya-- after the initial good feeling it makes me feel crappy for the next 24 hours, ruins my sleep and I think burns my brain out, LOL.

Some have said that marijuana has the opposite effect, sending VA out of the tissues and into the liver.
