Why are apples recommended? and Gareth for example say they are good. They don't have much fructose and they relax the liver. and fructose becomes the same poison as alcohol? Grant I don't take not a single fruit. Grant also did not take any supplements. and his survey almost 90% take it. Why is it said that what he says doesn't work if nobody did what he did?

Please understand that there is not one standard diet that's going to work the same for everyone. People need to be careful and find the diet that works best for them. Please don't try to mimic my diet.
Apples are a good source of pectin, a soluble fibre. They also contain malic acid. I don't think the fructose content is a big factor. But, decide for yourself if the fructose is okay for you or not.

Quote from lil chick on June 12, 2023, 4:08 pmI've often thought that to inspire the adage: "an apple a day keeps the doctor away!" there must be something important about apples.
I would say that I don't eat an apple a day. But they are a small amount of our yearly diet. I make dehydrated apple slices in the fall, and apple pies.
My great grandmother always had applesauce on the table, and prune sauce too. I think she sometimes put Senna in the sauce. I think these things were added to your plate as condiments and that she encouraged them for constipated family members. (3 of which lived to 100). I think my grandmother also had grape jelly growing up. Maybe marmalade. This was probably it for fruits.
Along with fiber, sometimes I think fruits might add that bit of potassium and C that we need.
Apples are good because you can easily peel them and inside they are white. I suppose that the prune sauce was higher in carotenes.

Definitely yes to this!
The fructose/sucrose is likely a non-issue as long as one is consuming the whole fruit. The way gut absorption works, the cells in the gut generally will metabolize it before it makes it into the portal vein as long as their is enough gel'd pectin/soluble fiber in the same gut emptying cycle. At least, that's my understanding.
I would add that the glucaric acid is very helpful in the final steps of one of the ways VitA makes it out of the body. I don't really know if this just back-fills the bodies own production like cholesterol does, but I figure that any supplemental amount is very useful in freeing up other resources.
I do spread my 4-5 apples out throughout the day in between meals to try and get the most impact from them (and to keep them away from fat which would increase the absorption of their innate carotenoids)
