Are pickles πŸ₯’ acceptable?

Are pickles acceptable? Do they have much vitamin a? When I have a burger I get onions, mayonnaise , pickles and salt and pepper. I'm wondering if this is a concern.

Hello,

I don't think people should be at all concerned about these foods that have trace amounts of vitamin A, and especially so when it is not in an oil/fat.Β  Just focusing on the big ticket items is a far more important and livable strategy.

Additionally, fermented foods, such as sauerkraut, and pickles have a lot of other benefits too. So, please don't fight that craving. And I think the benefits of sauerkraut are going to far outweigh the concerns. So, people can eat as much sauerkraut and as they want. It's a good source of biotin, B vitamins too.

On the other hand, the mayonnaise is rather questionable.

That's exactly how I have my burgers too. Mayo is probably the only food that I cheat with and I try to keep it for burgers only. Luckily, commercial mayo is mostly oil and contains less egg yolk than homemade versions, I suspect.

I eat pickles too on burgers. But make own mayo from egg whites not egg yolk. Something to try maybe? πŸ™‚ it is fluffier than regular mayo.

I'm not sure what they use at fast food restaurants. At home it is a full egg including the yolk.

I generally have it for the flavour.

Interesting...what's your recipe or website you recommend that walks you through it?

I have no recipe but there should be on google πŸ™‚ i know the middle east uses this and call it something special. i just tried one day with egg white, a neutral oil, garlic, salt, a squeeze lime juice and a bit mustard. It was a hit. I wrote about it in the recipe thread as well.

The serious eats site has an egg white mayonnaise recipe that I use. Works very well
