bean allergy
Quote from eliza1275 on September 10, 2020, 12:41 pmIs anyone else here allergic to beans? I haven't eaten them in so long, but I decided to add them to add variety to my diet. Each time I eat them, even in a small amount, I get an itchy throat, itchy eyes, stuffy nose, constant sneezing, and then develop hives on my stomach and back.

Quote from eliza1275 on September 11, 2020, 3:44 pmI tried organic canned black beans, cannellini beans, and great northern beans. At first I mixed a small amount with rice, and the allergic symptoms listed above started out mild, and got worse each day. Finally, I tried eating a very small bowl of the black beans alone, and immediately got very stuffy with itchy eyes and an itchy throat, and I felt like my throat was closing up.
It seems every time I try to be healthy, my body revolts! Back to beef, potatoes, potato chips, and jelly beans, I guess.

Quote from salt on September 12, 2020, 6:48 amYou don't have to eat beans. I don't eat beans. I don't get any allergic type reactions from them but they seem to be terrible for my metabolism, I get very cold hands and feet after eating beans.
You can get some of the most important nutrients that are in beans like folate and soluble fiber (if you believe in that whole fiber thing) from other foods like parsnips and other white vegetables..

Some of the jelly beans are colored with carotenoids but you probably know that already.

Quote from lil chick on September 12, 2020, 4:27 pmI'm not saying this is the case, you may very well have an allergy, but some people have thought they were allergic to beans here or intolerant to them, and what was really happening was that the beans were "stirring the pot".
If that is the case (and it might not be) it could be interesting to at least try them again later when you have detoxed more VA to see if they still "stir the pot".
If you were to eat them, perhaps it would be an idea to eat them occasionally and not daily.
I had loads more trouble with beans before... than I do now. I'm still afraid of some types. I only eat black beans which I once read aren't so bad digestive-wise. I won't go near chick peas yet--those have given me too much trouble in the past. Hubs and I eat a can of black beans once a week, and occasionally I dabble in a peanut butter treat (because I love it)
