Quote from Larry on October 26, 2023, 8:45 amI'm new to all of this.
Just started vAe two days ago.
Reading the books as fast as I can.Beginner Mind:
What can I eat?
What must I avoid?Yes, plenty of food lists, but what about specific details?
Tonight for supper, tenderloin steak with white rice.
Served with a few gloves of sautéed garlic.About garlic, I decided to ask an A.I. program: Poe.
Asked:
"Does garlic contain Retinol or Retinoic Acid?"Poe's Answer:
"No, garlic does not contain retinol or retinoic acid. Retinol and retinoic acid are forms of vitamin A, which are typically found in animal-derived foods such as liver, eggs, and dairy products. Garlic is a plant-based food and does not naturally contain vitamin A or its derivatives. However, garlic is a good source of other beneficial compounds such as sulfur-containing compounds, flavonoids, and antioxidants."Easy to see the error about "plant-based ... does not ..."
But over all, is the AI answer on target for vAe, or not?
Critique, please.

Quote from lil chick on October 26, 2023, 10:04 amHi Larry! Welcome. There are some here who do garlic and it's cousins and others who do not. I use small amounts of onion and garlic as flavorings. An example of a person who doesn't is Grant himself, who tried adding it and had bad results. My husband goes overboard with onions, LOL, he thinks of them more like vegetables than flavorings.
I think everyone needs to find their own path.
Several people have arrived here wondering the same thing you are, like how should I start?
Many opt for the LOL "prison food diet" like Grant (buffalo, beans, rice) or their version of it.
Many others go for a longer list of foods to have some variety.
Some people arrive already with food allergies or on a special diet like carnivore.
And yet others are like my husband and are just cutting back but in an off-hand way (perhaps cut out all orange and dark green veggies, liver, vitamin a supplements)
This is a long-haul change and you are going to have lots of time to figure out what is best for you! :0
