Quote from Andrew W on January 5, 2026, 6:24 am@jiri - sorry to hear that dude. That definitely isn't nice to experience.
You just reminded me actually - something I haven't mentioned: I don't have alopecia barbae, but around a month ago I had a white patch of hair (around 1cm in diameter) appear in my beard on one side - it literally appeared from one shave to the next - almost overnight.
I assumed that it is likely a new vitiligo patch that has appeared on my face, so I didn't bother to mention it - it is not a new condition to me. I can't know for sure whether it is a vitiligo patch though, since the skin on my face is pretty pale anyway (pale white and pink hahaha). It may just be ox. stress in the hair follicles.

Quote from lil chick on January 6, 2026, 7:19 amI've studied human coloring (as it applies to fashion, actually) and all people get the gray hair that goes best with their skin tone. My husband and I have completely different gray hair colors despite similar diets, same water (for both drinking and washing). His is more of a striking metallic cold dark gray, while mine is a soft pearl white. (my hair was dark blonde like you, while his was dark true brown)
I'm an advocate for not dyeing the hair, and of course number one reason is: it is just unhealthy to do. But the number 2 reason is that nature choose your hair color (whether young and colored or older and grayer) to completely harmonize with your skin. Nothing from a bottle will do that.
I think also that it may be genetic WHEN you gray, it does seem like some races go gray at a slower pace.
I think vitamin A overload might speed things up a bit, but the forties is when most white folks start in with serious grayness. The thirties it's more of a "highlight" the forties, it's a lifestyle, LOL.
I love my hair color, and actually feel it reflects the true me. I remember when it started really turning gray and it is strange. And it did sort of happen quickly, that change from "highlight" to "all over".
It's good sign that the texture is nice.
