blackstrap molasses

What you think about this "superfood" ?

I like the taste, but have been told by multiple "naturopaths" that it is not a good option...too high in iron, calcium, copper, i.e. things you don't want more of in most cases. I stopped using it.

@mmb3664 cronometer says 0,7mg of iron, 0,4mg of copper, 200mg of calcium, 450mg of potassium for 1 tbsp. It doesn't look that bad.. I was actually looking for another potassium and calcium sources. Which I don't have much on no dairy, low vegetable diet.. Iron content looks low. The only concern for me is eating too much copper, but even if I eat 2 tbsp a day it is still under 1mg which is ok.. There are foods much higher in copper, iron etc..

I heard aloe inner leaf juice is a good source of calcium and potassium. I am not sure if that is true or what the copper content is.

Depending on the "source" of the sugar it could be quite high in carotenoids. If it's made from unrefined sugarcane it will have significant levels of carotenoids.

Hey, has anyone experimented with this molasses idea?    It might be something our ancestors did, that we don't, and maybe was good?

I just tried half a teaspoon in my coffee (with a little milk) and it tastes really good.
