Fasting blood glucose improvement.

I posted this in Garrett Smith’s network but thought it might be of interest to people here too. My experience agrees with Grant’s blog from August 2020 on diabetes:  ‘For me at least, there’s no doubt that vitamin A toxicity is causing the diabetes and obesity epidemics. But, that’s just my own conclusion on it. With diabetes now being a major pandemic, it’s rather imperative that we find out. So, if you can, please help by tracking your A1C or blood glucose levels as you progress with this diet. You can then add more evidence (pro or con) to the case.’ @ggenereux2014

Fasting blood sugar experiment:

I have a blood sugar monitor & over the last few years I’ve been testing my fasting blood sugar (first thing in morning) intermittently (8-15 days at a time to get an average) to give a snapshot of this aspect of my health. I’ve also been using it to work out which foods make my blood sugar spike super high but that’s another story.

I have good news as for the first time in the 3 years that I’ve been testing my blood sugar is out of the pre-diabetic range & into the normal range (or on the border at least) 😀

Results (prediabetes 5.5 to 6.9 mmol/l (100 to 125 mg/dl))

May 2017: 5.7
August 2018: 6.4
May 2019: 6.2
May 2020: 6.2
Nov 2020: 5.5

I was chronically vA toxic in 2017 but didn’t know it, however, the big spike came in 2018 when I was supplementing vA, lutein & eating masses of orange veg. This tipped me into obvious symptoms & thankfully led me to Dr Smith & through him Grant Genereux.  So I’ve been detoxing for 2 years & going low vA in October 2018 I suspect stopped me progressing into diabetes (this looks like where I was heading) but only now has my blood sugar returned to normal. I’m very pleased to see this normalisation.

I am very happy for you @jaj! Certainly a lot can improve when your blood sugar goes down. Conversely, a lot must have happened ALREADY for this glucose result to become apparent.

This is an important signal for us all: that it takes a long time (2 years) in your case for some improvements to become visible. Which does not mean that the body is not quietly repairing itself, starting by what is most important or available. Everyone is different.

Well done and thank you for taking the trouble to encourage us!

Thanks @ourania for your kind words. I’ve learnt so much from your posts that I’m glad you found this useful.

Although I’ve been detoxing for 2 years I do think that for the first year I was making many mistakes that would have slowed down the exit of vA from my body. I was not following a Grant type diet. I was including some foods & supplements which I think impeded my progress and I was definitely not including enough soluble fibre. Therefore I think I could probably achieve this result in less time if I started the detox now & followed all the discoveries made. I have personally found Garrett Smith’s network an excellent & essential source of information and of course Grant’s ebooks & blog & the discussion forum here.

Or maybe it would always have taken my body 2 years to normalise the blood sugar. I don’t know. I’m 56 & have been accumulating this stuff all my life. I’ve definitely been at ‘full’ since 2012 so this recovery has always seemed likely to be a slow process for me.

@jaj Tested my fasting glucose level this morning, and I am at 5.0 mmol/L (90 mg/dL), which I am quite happy with, I was diagnosed with pre-diabetes about 10yrs ago.   I will track it a few times in the coming months, to see how it goes.

@orion that’s really good - well into the normal range & certainly not pre-diabetic. That’s where I’m hoping mine will go to.
