Carrot Cream

Hello community folk.

I suddenly remembered tanning oils. I asked someone for the name of the most common one: carrot sun.

This is what the company's (limited website) description says:

Benefits for Skin: Carrot oil contains carotene antioxidants, vitamin A, and omega-3 fatty acids, which have moisturising and cell-regenerative properties.

Has anyone had experience with them?

I looked up tanning pills, which contain canthaxanthin. From what I gather, it is sold over the counter in Canada, but not in the US.

WebMD says:

Some people who have taken canthaxanthin for these purposes (artificial tanning) have experienced eye damage and vision loss.

I apologize in advance if other threads containing this subject exist and have been saturated.

And thank you

I just looked up the tanning oil I used to use in the olden days as a kid, and it had dyes in it.  Red and yellow dyes!  LOL

Eye damage. Uh. I used to eat lots of carrots as a teen because I wanted to look tanned.

I remember we had some dried carrot stuff also, carrot flakes. I loved those. I just cant remember when it was! Because at third or fourth grade in school my eyes suddenly got bad. All of a sudden I could not see clearly what was written on the white board. I had to get an eye exam and I got glasses, -2,25 d. After school ended I did not use my glasses again because I hated it and now as 46 yo my eyesight is maybe a tiny tad better (last time I measured they was -2 d but it is several years ago). I can see very well closely but not far. I am used to it though so it does not bother me. But I still wonder, WTH was it that happened that made my eyes get bad all of a sudden..... We also had to eat a spoon of cod liver oil every morning as kids, and i loved that stuff. Weirdly enough.

@raul

I summarized a bit about canthaxanthin and linked to a study about how it took about 9-20 years for fading of the visible eye damage of the retina:

I don't think the subject is saturated more than it is definitely bad news and canthaxanthin is used as a feed additive in for example farmed salmon and chicken feed to change the color of the salmon and the egg yolk.
