CBD (cannabidiol) friend or foe?

I have been using CBD for several years and stopped immediately when I read Garrett Smith's post on CBD. He found a paper where they gave CBD or THC to control and vitamin A deficient rats. There was no effect on the VAD rats, but the effect on the rats fed vitamin A was very interesting!   http://www.nutricionhospitalaria.com/pdf/6430.pdf  The CBD dosed rats had 2 times the retinol in their livers after just one dose of CBD.  It seems that CBD may round up all the vitamin A in the body and shuttle it to the liver! This may be fine if you have room in your liver, and it may make you feel better in the short term. But eventually your liver will be full and CBD will no longer help you. I have been rubbing CBD cream on my face and knees for years, and when I stopped my knee pain disappeared!!

There is also a recent paper showing liver damage from oral CBD in doses similar to those used for epilepsy patients. But they also found liver damage at lower doses.  https://www.mdpi.com/1420-3049/24/9/1694  I emailed the last author to see if he had measured retinol in the mouse livers. He had not measured it but thought it would be very interesting.

Why is everything so complex?  Can we order the manual for this body?

I had an interesting experience with CBD.  I had been using a water soluble form and nebulising it.  I can't take it orally as it irritates my gut (many things do this so not a stand out feature for me).  I have high anxiety and was determined to give CBD a go having heard such positive things about it.  I was taking a v small amount.  Anyway after a few months I decided the benefit if any was too small and not worth the effort of continuing.  I was at this point when my VA toxicity reached crisis point and I had severe symptoms that finally caught my attention.

After a week of low VA when the nausea and severe headaches were subsiding I tried nebulising the CBD again and the nausea and headaches came back straight away.  I can't be 100% sure it was the CBD as I also had a bit of rapadura that day as well.  I ditched them both and wasn't interested in experimenting to work out which was responsible.  I think it is most likely to have been the CBD though.
