chicory: detox herb?

I recently had a reaction (debilitating itching and chills) after taking chicory root in coffee, and I'm pretty sure it was the culprit in debilitating itching about 6 months ago.   Now, I could just be allergic, that is quite possible.   But was it allergy or DETOX?  The area of itching was the torso (liver area).

I looked up the herb and several things gave me pause

This study said that chicory reduces fatty liver

Hepatoprotective effect of feeding celery leaves mixed with chicory leaves and barley grains to hypercholesterolemic rats

the study is here:  https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC3113355/

(me talking again)  Chicory has properties similar to those of Dandelion (which is a known liver herb)

From a traditional herbal book:

"An infusion of the herb is useful for skin eruptions connected with gout."

What happens when you take too much (perhaps like I did?)  "Chicory when taken too habitually, or freely, causes venous passive congestion in the digestive organs within the abdomen and a fullness of blood in the head. If used in excess as a medicine it is said to bring about loss of visual power in the retina.

Boy is it saying that you better go slow because you will DETOX?    (like head pressure, constipation and blurry vision)

In my case, chicory causes increased detoxification symptoms. I wonder too, if this is a good thing or a bad.

chicory is an antibacterial - https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC6247382/

thus it could be a herxheimer reaction

btw vitamin A as an antibiotic partly blocks the receptors (TLR4) through which pro inflammatory cascade raises, so on vit A deficient diet the response to endotoxin could be more tangible

I have recently taken antibiotics, and I do not remember having any strong reaction to them.

The response could differ from abx to abx(resistance degree, etc). What abxs did you take?

It was tetracycline

over the last few months I've tried 6 antibiotics with different responses:

azithromycin - terrible fatigue on days off, POTS(up to 200 bpm on standing) and i think i've lost some weight so could be good to increase metabolism;
minocycline - moderate neuro symptoms, moderate fatigue
bactrim - scin issues, light neuro symptoms
lactoferrin - moderate fatigue
ivermectin - moderate fatigue
clindamycin - severe neuro symptoms, light extra fatigue

basically i've tried(tested) every abx which was proven to be effective against covid so if i'll catch it they will be my goto drugs(probably some combination, like minocycline+ivermectin(or azithro)+lactoferrin)

Some people think that the body invites or allows germs as the cleanup crew when you are toxic.

There are two sides to the antibiotic usage discussion, leading to quotes like this supposed one:

For this reason, it is said that on his death bed, Pasteur admitted, “Bernard was right: the pathogen is nothing, the terrain is everything.”

Of course, sometimes probably things get out of control.  It'll either cure you or kill you sort of situation.

However, in the last couple of days I have been drinking chicory in the evenings and did not notice anything. What is this, the result of a VA detox? It's been almost 2 months.

I think the thread on amigdalin is somewhat similar to this... ie, are there herbal "remedies" that stir up detox reactions (purposefully?)?  I had one of these reactions last week and just posted about it, and about how another (healthy) person ate the same food and had no reaction.
