Chronic vitamin A-enriched diet feeding induces body weight gain and adiposity
Quote from Ourania on June 4, 2021, 8:57 amSome good news: for the last two months (17th and 18th months of low vA diet, our sleep has gone progressively by bounds from 6 hours per night and a half hour per day to 8 hours per night and 45 mns per day. No more waking up just after falling asleep for the last year. No more waking up in the night. Something very good is happening.

Based on the available evidence, Dr. Bergö said he was extremely concerned with the aggressive marketing of antioxidants to cancer patients. The data strongly suggest that using antioxidants “could be really dangerous in lung cancer and melanoma, and possibly other cancers,” he said. “And because there’s no strong evidence that antioxidants are beneficial, cancer patients should be encouraged to avoid supplements after they have a diagnosis.”

A common treatment given for eczema, and other inflammatory diseases are the corticosteroids.
They work great in suppressing the symptoms; I know this from first hand experience. However, with longer term use they can be a disaster. When my doctor prescribed corticosteroids, he warned me to go easy with it as they can have long term “side-effects”. What he did not tell me is that one of the more common known “side-effects” is cancer.
What’s also interesting is that corticosteroids bind to the same hormone receptors as do vit A and vit D. So, I think their real mechanism of action is to rate limit the uptake of vit A into the cell.
In a crisis situation the corticosteroids could be used to buy time. It functions by suppressing the aggressive immune response and thus allowing the tissue to heal (somewhat). However, prolonged “suppression” of the immune response can obviously lead to cancer.
I also have no doubt that elevated cortisol levels is why I experience the weird chronic fatigue / insomnia; that of being dead tired and still not able to sleep. Seeing that cortisol secretion is increased with retinoic acids explains that chronic fatigue / insomnia and I guess in an indirect way, it sure points to cancer causation too.
So, it's hard for me to agree with their claim of: "Retinoic acid has recently yielded promising results"
You mentioned your caloric intake in another thread which seemed to be quite low. Have you tried eating more to see if it would help you with insomnia? Carbohydrate is the principal thing that lowers stress hormones, so eating a light meal of either starch or maybe raisins right before going to bed could potentially be helpful.

My sleep is poor too. Elevated retinoic acid levels definitely cause it or make it worse. I'm hoping that we see improvement when our serum retinol levels come down consistently. Even once serum retinol levels are low it may still take a while for improvement to come.

Quote from tim on June 4, 2021, 10:24 pmSome ideas for better sleep:
In our homes there is an electromagnetic field present everywhere. RF is emitted by wireless technologies but even if you turn off all wireless at night just having electrical wiring in the walls creates a magnetic field that interacts with our cells. Some think that our pineal gland which regulates melatonin production sees EMF as light causing the pineal gland to reduce melatonin production.
Intense short duration exercise has many benefits including encouraging better sleep. It reduces insulin resistance.
Full body sunlight exposure.
Balanced diet from all food groups except dairy.
Insomnia is linked to prediabetes. I think it's best to avoid eating before bed. Digestion is the least active at night. Insulin resistance exacerbates sleep apnea, insomnia and daytime sleepiness.
RESULTS In comparison with individuals with no or minor sleep complaints, those with more frequent complaints of sleep apnea, insomnia, and daytime sleepiness were more insulin resistant, as evidenced by higher fasting insulin concentrations and insulin and glucose responses to OGTT, and more frequently had high homeostasis model assessment of IR and low insulin sensitivity index values. The likelihood of being insulin resistant increased significantly and linearly according to the accumulation of co-occurring sleep complaints. These associations changed only a little when adjusted for mediating and confounding factors and for depressive symptoms. Sleep complaints were not associated with indices of deficiency in insulin secretion.

I think it was a typo by grant , I think he wanted to mention that me felt insomnia /fatigue in past , not presently ( so far all the posts I read of him say his sleep is better and energy level is good ) .

Sorry, yes, that was a typo. I experienced the insomnia / chronic fatigue when I was sick. It resolved several months after starting my diet change.
My ability to fall asleep quickly and the sleep quality I now get is quite amazing.

@jiri been meaning to ask how the grounding mat experiment went, did it help you? better sleep?
@tim-2 I do everything you listed, including setting my WIFI router to turn off from 10pm to 8am, but all the other neighbor houses have WIFI running and of course living in a wired house.
My sleep has vastly improved over the last 2.5yrs on low VA, but still needs that last little jump, I consistently still wake after 3 or 4 - 90min(4.5 to 6hrs) sleep cycles, then fall asleep waking every hour after that. So I do get about 8hrs everyday, just don't want it broken up! It's been steady progress, so I know I will get there 🙂

Quote from Jiří on June 5, 2021, 11:48 am@orion I have some bad sockets here so I didn't risk it. So I returned the mat lol.. I simply need to move out of this apartment building somewhere with less EMF exposure.. I would love to live next to the beach. That's like my achievable dream. To relax after work on the beach. Be fully grounded in salted water heh.. I also love riding bikes so living somewhere in Spain or Mallorca that would be amazing.. Or at least I will try to move there for some time like half a year, but ideally finding a job and staying there forever heh.. I would do whatever job even cleaning toilets. It's still better than live here in Czech Republic and work shitty job so I can live in this apartment building full of EMF and looking from the window to shitty neighborhood..
