Have you seen any of the other threads about urushiol on here? Had a few conversations recently about its ties to retinol rash and itch.· Reply

joe joe yeah I think that's in this thread? I've been doing the hot water. I don't think my body accumulated urushiol, I think I got on the niacin and my body started making tons of retinoids, from my liver or from fat pads and possibly carotenoids in the skin of my hands. I speculate the way there's a few different patterns of skin reactions that manifest is because sometimes it's RA, sometimes retinol, sometimes retinol esters, etc. The solid deep red areas are probably retinol in the deeper layers, and as it works to the superficial layers it's getting converted more to RA.

Update 5/8: ongoing. The nature of it is changing. I am thinking now this is less about toxins stored in the fatty parts of my hand and more related to my liver. Having slight itchiness around my liver. It was turning into open sores but now it's more mild, to match the more mild nature of what's happening in my hands.

New pics the last month or so. Character and location of the rash changes over time. No more rash over my liver, not having as much widespread itchiness lately. A few times a week my hands will have a flare up, the skin will get intensely dry, and "prickly" like if you brush up against a plant like nettle. Spots don't seem as deep lately and they heal faster, so day to day it changes drastically how bad it looks.

6/27: It's all clearing up, as I hoped it would in time. Still dry in the most superficial layers of skin but no deep gouges for the last couple weeks and it's all fading away and healing up. Been consistently doing very good so I think I can call this chapter closed.
