Can anyone explain the trend in this study?

Apparently over the past decades, epidemiological studies have shown that incidence rates of rheumatoid arthritis have been decreasing.
Any thoughts/theories?

Overall, it's what I wouldn't expect the results to be. I'd say most degenerative diseases are on the rise. So why not arthritis?
