Detox symptoms
Quote from Guest on December 3, 2018, 12:51 pmHello everyone,
some detox symptoms were talked about in other threads, but I thought one explicit thread would be nice. I have been on a low vit.A diet for a month now. So far so good, but I feel like I still have to detox quite a bit. I know that detox symptoms can be different for everyone and especially old issues can show up again. I think it would just be nice to share experiences.
I have been having a lot of headaches and what is kind of a bummer - I feel like doing nothing. I just want to chill a lot. Some days I am really feeling like sports, but last Saturday I went to an aerobic class and I really didn't feel like moving, which is unusual for me.
What I found really interesting in an article that I read the other day was, that when the liver isn't healthy or maybe let's say in an optimal state, you won't have pain like you would when another organ isn't alright. The interesting statement was tiredness is the sign of the liver. So I am wondering if this is what I am feeling: the body has a lot of work to do with detox and therefore not much energy is left for other things?
Has someone felt the same way?
Also, this one is a bit funny and just an observation, but do you guys see more bubbles after you pee, like flowing on top? Could this be related to the RBP? Like how protein at the seashore causes foam? It doesn't bother me but whenever I see it I wonder if detox is happening:D

Quote from Guest on December 3, 2018, 3:34 pmI have definitely experienced increased tiredness and foamy pee.
The tiredness is an odd development for me. I have almost never felt fatigued in my life. Even when the pain, stiffness, and muscle weakness was at it's highest point I always felt wired.

Quote from Guest on December 3, 2018, 6:33 pmI've been fatigued relative to my same aged peers my whole life - I blame it on the inability of my body to deal with vitamin A and the fact that it is probably just a toxin. So in detox, the fatigue is nothing new to me though it does seem worse (except for the 6 weeks before I started the diet in which I was anxious, couldn't sleep much, had a chronic pressure headache and was just plain miserable 24/7). I am starting to doubt that I am detoxing vA at any noticable rate as I do not see a difference in my pee which you should if you are detoxing, at least according to Dr Smith.
The one thing that was kind of new since starting a low vA diet was that I had a migraine headache for about 5 days straight - I've had them before, maybe 3 or 4 times in my whole life and each time they only lasted a few hours.

Quote from Guest on December 3, 2018, 6:56 pmThe above might be a helpful read.
I've been eating a low vitamin A diet for a couple of weeks. I haven't felt any improvements. Have had a bad patch of insomnia which has been pretty miserable. It may be detox though at this point in time I'm not sure if vitamin a toxicity is the cause of my health issues or not. Time will tell.
I've also had headaches, dizziness, fatigue etc but that could all be the result of not enough sleep.

Quote from Guest on December 3, 2018, 10:59 pmI have noticed increases tiredness. After adding more fat to my diet in form of olive oil and macadamia nuts I have felt an improvement. Not noticing any difference in my pee yet but have been pooping beige-ish on a few occations after going vit A free which is quite interesting. /Liz

Quote from harrymacdonald on December 4, 2018, 3:31 pmIt's hard to say whether things i've experienced are due to what we're calling detox or just the natural variations in health that i've always experienced. I have a feeling that many of them have been caused by the low-VA diet however, so i'll list them - none of these things have been constant; they come in fits and spurts:
- Dry skin
- Cracked lips
- Headaches
- Fatigue
- Poor digestion/heartburn (I think due to more grains, however)
- Really weird, quite extreme chest pains/inside my ribs
- Dark pee
- Abnormally thirsty
- Abnormally hungry
- Bad skin
- Unstable blood sugar
Lets hope all this is because of detox and not that my health is just going down the drain!

Quote from Bella on December 4, 2018, 4:09 pmFor me I have a difficult time even knowing I'm having detox symptoms until they pass and I can reflect back on the situation. That's probably because I've been sick most of my life! I must say many issues are greatly improved over the past 5 months but I've had some rough patches here and there as well.
I listened to a YouTube from Dr. Smith today that really hit home about recognizing the positives. It's easy for me to get caught up in what's wrong or not perfect but if I step back and look at the improvements it's pretty amazing. At least I'm seeing a solid trend in a healing direction.
It's easy to get discouraged during a detox phase when you've tried so many things in the past that didn't pan out as expected.
Dr. Smith also mentioned on YouTube a conversation he had with Grant about a study where it took a cat a full six months to recover from hypervitaminosis A. :/
Hang in there everyone!

Poor digestion/heartburn:
Try Betaine HCL with pepsin or 1-2 tbl of apple cider vinegar before eating. You are not producing enough stomach acid.

Are you drinking enough water?

Quote from Liz on December 4, 2018, 10:12 pmOh yea def really dry flaky lips that came from nowhere some 5 days ago from one hour to the next. And abnormal thirst. Body is craving water like never before despite being winter and cold . Doesnt feel like the same amount comes out again though xD
Been having a slight headache since yesterday but that could be from anything ((but I very rarely experience headache, my first vit a free days were horrible, headache wise)

Quote from Guest on December 4, 2018, 10:38 pmA lot of these symptoms sound similar to detoxing copper to me...headache... fatigue. I wonder if there isn't some connection, I know your liver is responsible for ceruloplasmin production, I'd be curious to see someone do some copper labs before and after their little low vitamin a detox. Just thinking out loud.
