Detox symptoms
Quote from harrymacdonald on December 5, 2018, 4:14 amQuote from Guest on December 4, 2018, 10:38 pmA lot of these symptoms sound similar to detoxing copper to me...headache... fatigue. I wonder if there isn't some connection, I know your liver is responsible for ceruloplasmin production, I'd be curious to see someone do some copper labs before and after their little low vitamin a detox. Just thinking out loud.
Copper and vitamin A are certainly connected; many people supplement vitamin A for the reason of raising ceruloplasmin. Ceruloplasmin used to be known as an acute phase reactant, meaning it increased in response to inflammation, so it's interesting that VA raises it.
However, this study showed that vitamin A deficient rats had higher ceruloplasmin - https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/533078.
Could be an interesting rabbit hole for someone to go down

Quote from Guest on December 5, 2018, 5:45 amI had high copper low zinc on a blood lab from this past summer. I've been doing the low vA diet for a few months but have also been taking 40 to 60 mgs of zinc so any other labs probably wouldn't be of help in determining a reason for the copper going down, if it does. Correct? I do hope I will be able to repeat the labs later if I can afford them.

Quote from Orion on December 5, 2018, 6:37 amCompleted 4 weeks now of a low/zero VA diet, couple random symptoms are:
Flu symptoms that last 12-24hrs, then go away (sore throat, bone and joint aches, malaise, headache)

Things are are improving:
Skin quality
Sleep quality

Orange calluses(good sign you are overloaded on VA) on hands and feet slowing turning back to pale skin color
Calluses on feet, elbows were very dry, they are becoming normal

Quote from Guest on December 5, 2018, 7:02 amWhen I had increased my zinc from 30 to 90 mgs in August I started having chronic headaches and my insomnia got much worse as well as drowsiness (even if I managed to sleep 7 hours or take a nap). I did that for a a couple of weeks then went back down to 30 mg - I still had the symptoms (though in the last few weeks I have increased the zinc again). I finally emailed Dr. Smith in mid September about it and asked if it was copper detox- this was at a time when he was just getting into the vA stuff so he emailed me back info on that but didn't address whether copper detox had anything to do with it. I haven't seen any improvements yet on my detox like others report after just a few weeks so maybe things are taking longer because of the high copper I had in the beginning? (I am the same guest who wrote about high copper/low zinc on blood labs).

Quote from DWL on January 22, 2019, 7:55 pmIn an attempt to increase detoxing, I did a full body brushing before showering. The next day I experienced full blown detox symptoms. Brushing went from toes to abdomen, fingers to shoulders, head and remaining body to abdominal area--all in about a 10 minute
time span.
The following day symptoms subsided.
