Julie's Log-vA toxicity?! It's probable.

"A journey of a thousand miles starts with a single step. " Chinese Proverb.

I have felt in my gut that the fat I have accumulated has been a protection for me from toxins.

Now I believe that I believe that Vitamin A would be one of those toxins.

Over 4 years ago I was religiously following Dr G. I have wanted to get my hair tested (is that still a thing?), but wouldn't justify the cost until I was ready to  remove my amalgam fillings and was doing the things I already thought I should be.. When I heard him teach that Vitamin D should not be ingested, I stopped that cold turkey...that was easy since I DESPISE liver and cod liver oil! I read his book that he co-authored with Matt Stone. I reduced EMF exposure. The list goes on.

Then.....he started telling us that Vitamin A was poison and I just could not accept that hypothesis.

So, I just tuned it out and didn't consider "loving my liver."

Well, now my liver is throwing a tantrum that can't be ignored. I found a naturopath locally I agree with on many points. Then we got back my blood tests.

She told me to avoid eggs like I have been doing for 6 years, detox my liver, take omega 3 oils and minerals with copper, exercise 3 times a week (which I do) and prescribed liquid Vitamin D, so I started to look elsewhere for advice.....and I clicked on a Love Your Liver podcast for the first time. That's when I decided that I should consider that vA may actually have something to do with my liver and gallbladder problems, all the while eating Weston A. Price -ish whole foods, heavy vegetable and fruit when in season, no sugar diet.

I've been binging  on this blog, recorded audios and e-books and getting some support on the FB group that Dr. G is in.....and I have so many unanswered questions as I decide how the best way to go about experimenting with a low Vitamin A diet myself.

So far, here are some things that are going on;

Ankle swelling, morbid obesity, intermittent gallbladder pain, liver spots on my hands, inflammation,  near narcoleptic fatigue, poor oral health,  thinning hair and numbness in my hands. I have a comprehensive blood test I can post if that would be beneficial.

It's just a guess, but it's quite possible that feeling worse than ever at the height of the garden and fruit and garden has something to do with a recent surge in BRIGHTLY COLORED AND DEEP GREEN FOOD!

I am trying to take this new part of my 20 year journey towards health, one step at a time while I try not to feel overwhelmed. . I welcome any support, well wishes and or recommendations you may have.

Today, I left the ketchup off of my hamburger that I ate instead of a kale, zucchini and onion stir-fry.

It's not much, but it's a start.

I feel real hope that my health will show marked improvement  for the first time for the first time in many, many years.

I pray that this is the answer I have been searching for. I have  a lot to live for!

p.s. My kids don't like carrots much without peanut butter. Go figure.

p.s.s. We are raising pasture raised pigs and cook primarily with tallow, butter and lard.

p.s.s.s At least I planted plenty of potatoes to go with the gobs of winter squash I will probably be selling most of.
