Does allowing a high fever to run its course deplete vitamin a?

Also do saunas health benefits come from lowering vitamin a?

Quote from kikileah on August 18, 2019, 2:43 pmYes, I think a fever helps deplete Vit A. Not sure how though. My toddler daughter has had full body eczema for over a year now and it has briefly cleared up 3 times. One of those times of clear-up was while she had a fever when teething last summer. The eczema starting coming back the day after her fever broke. I never treated her fever.

Quote from kikileah on August 18, 2019, 3:03 pmYes, it has! We have both been low Vit A since Feb. 17. The 3rd time her skin cleared up was around the 3-4 week mark of low Vit A. Then it got worse again and stayed bad. Finally, in the past 2-3 weeks she's clearly getting better. Rather than her body being 80-90% covered it's more like 40-50%. And the severity of the eczema has improved, too. It's less weepy and inflamed. I really have been meaning to introduce ourselves and our story (rather stories because low Vit has helped me too! Eczema is gone, tinnitus and cheilosis are better, plus other improvements), but I haven't gotten around to it yet.

Quote from lil chick on August 19, 2019, 9:12 amWhen I get a fever my rosacea looks the best of the entire year.
I've had that explained by holistic pracitioners as a "shift" in the immune system. And I don't think that is wrong.
IMO-- Vitamin A is a weapon, and is used to fight the germies. Lets say it was the flu... the vitamin A in my face was moved over to my throat/nasal passages (or where necessary) during the flu in order to fight it. And that is part of the reason you feel like crap in those areas.
It isn't necessarily because of the FEVER (IMO). I'm thinking fever happens in parallel. I could be wrong, this is just a guess on my part. But sauna doesn't have the same effect on my rosacea.
I do think, as someone said, that saunas have benefits because of sweating. I think sweating DOES get rid of A. But go slowly and carefully. If you've had high A for a long time your sweating or adrenals may not be up to par. I owned a sauna and it didn't work out for me. I'd much rather work up a sweat with a bit of exercize.
This "weapon" thing is why I remain in camp "need a bit" and not in camp "zero".
In my opinion, we need to be IN BALANCE with our A, lowering it to a level at which we are able to keep the weapon "well-holstered".
In my opinion, we humans would have a better system of releasing A, if we had no use for it.
I do wonder whether the VA's that are never converted to real A...are of as much use. Especially to light-colored people who don't even tan or anything. I wonder if my orange cat, though light, does use some carotenes though. He didn't get A-toxic. Some primates are quite orange, like the orangutan.

Quote from lil chick on August 19, 2019, 9:21 amI wonder if that is why there is an eventual plateau when it comes to reducing A.
Perhaps the body is smart enough that it will start to hold on to A tighter and tighter the longer a person is on the low VA diet.

Liver flushes and alcohol are maybe good ways to continue to push the A out.
