egg white/ red wine/ genetics/beer

I'm sorry if this is a repeat question here but how about (cooked) egg white?    Could it be a building block food, or just a sometimes food?  I happen to have a lot of eggs here just now, and I could be eating egg white omelettes for bfast if it is smart.

I gave up alcohol a while back because it seemed to make me redder, (I have rosacea) but I wonder about red wine.  I have an urge for it, although I do wonder if that is just my inner lush haha.  Again, as a sometimes treat or as a nightly habit?

Just wanted to say that my grandmother seemed to live on a lowish A diet and lived to 99 years of age.  Meat and potatoes.   I did her shopping and was always surprised at how "unhealthy" it seemed lol.  She also liked grape jelly on english muffins (for the record).   Tea and coffee.  She did have some issues (similar to my own) and I wonder about genetics and how that plays in.   I wonder if a thread has ever been started about the types of people that end up here on this list.    She was German.

On my other side, I also had a long-lived grandfather and he drank red wine.  He was French.   He hated salads.   The French "paradox" comes to mind.  How do they eat hollandaise, pate, butter, cheese, creme fraise all day and not end up very high A?  Does the wine help?

I would bet, though this is just a guess, that a malty beer (non-hoppy and no other crazy additions such as peach or pumpkin) is the way to go as well, if a person wanted beer?  I've always been anti-hops myself.

Egg whites are A free so go nuts. They are a staple in my own diet 🙂

I've used egg whites every morning for like the past year lol, youre fine.

I'd recommend cooking it w/ organic virgin olive oil. Interesting how your grandparents avoided a lot of VA and lived long

Hiya

Yes the egg white is Ok. I have also found an egg yolk replacer for biscuits and cakes.  For baked goods, such as cookies and cakes, substitute about two tablespoons of white or apple cider vinegar and an extra one-half teaspoon of baking powder for the egg yolks. The vinegar will not be noticeable, and you will achieve the same leavening and binding effects.

I think the red wine is Ok. Dr G describes it as a accelerator of VA so some can get reactions but probably ok in moderation. I have added some wine back in.
