I am learning this too lol I cut out the beans and ground flax seeds for a several days, because I didn't want to tear my digestive tract up (I was having lots of diarrhea). Now I haven't gone at all in a few days. I cannot seem to get regular. I eat mostly beef and a little chicken. I am scared of turkey lol  And I don't know what taurine is, but I will research it and try to figure out how to incorporate it into my diet!

Start slow, some people have to start with 1 single bean every other day, and increase weekly.... I started with a can..lol but I am also crazy! I knew it can cause troubles. Maybe start with 1 teaspoon at every meal :). Psyllium constipates me, so if you have diarrhea you might want to try if psyllium fits you.

Thank you for the tip! I will try to incorporate it slowly then (probably more than 1 bean though,I grew up eating a lot of homegrown beans!)  I think I was overdoing it by a lot at first 😅 That and the flax seed. I've tried psyllium in the past (before all this started) and it worked. Might revisit psyllium then!

@janelle525 Are you a Ray Peat fan? I remember you saying you were afraid of flaxseed, due to fear of omega 3s going rancid.

Freshly ground flaxseed is not rancid, unless the whole seeds are very old and “off.” It is clear when that happens, because they will be so bitter as to be intolerable to consume.

I have noticed over the years that many posters here have a history of being afraid of consuming one Essential Fatty Acid or both (omega 3 and/or omega 6) and instead prefer saturated fat, the combination of which I now believe to be part of the reason for their chronic inflammation:

Omega 3 deficiency isn’t good, and a low vitamin A diet is low in omega 3s unless chia, flaxseed, or hemp hearts are included.

Did you know Grant consumed ground flaxseed for the first while (I believe he said it was a year, but I may be misremembering) he went low-vitamin A? Based on the evidence supporting the benefits of flaxseed, I believe this decision likely supported his recovery.

Of course, flaxseed should be introduced slowly if one is sensitive to fiber. 😅

Yes you remember very well! I am afraid of PUFA's particularly the more easily oxidized like omega 3s. I did at one time buy flaxseed oil at the recommendation of a Ray Peat fan many years ago. I was so afraid I only took it maybe 2 times lol. Thing is I'm not afraid of deep fried foods in peanut oil as much so I guess my fear is unfounded. I have PTSD from the cod liver oil scam. Is consuming seafood every once in a while enough to not need flax?

taurine is highest in dark meat poultry like chicken thighs. I don’t do well on a supplement. But eat lots of thighs. I would be very careful with any supplement or essential oil anyway. They’re usually high in aldehydes. And Accutane wrecks your aldehyde dehydrogenase enzyme. Also you may want to add the beans back. They bind to bile really well and will help keep you regular.

Forgive me if you said this somewhere else, but did you have the head pressure or intracranial pressure? Mine fluctuates, but its been worse the last few days and I've been feeling so bad. I feel like I am starting from the beginning after putting that essential oil cream on me. My anxiety is horrible. Did you have any setbacks at first?

Yes, I had very bad intracranial pressure. To the point where my pupils were different sizes. And I would have stroke like migraines. It’s gone away a good deal. But not completely gone. I also just recently got in a bad car wreck and have another concussion. So that’s not helping.

@nate-2 I'm really sorry this happened to you...! Yours sounds even worse than mine was! Also very sorry to hear about the concussion. I can only imagine how that must feel on top of this intracranial nonsense.

Others have said their intracranial pressure got better around the 6 month mark to a year... Maybe on top of your head injuries, it may take a little longer. My bloodwork shows my vitamin A levels are normal so I was just curious as to how I "fix" this if my levels are already normal.

I hope you continue to get better and post your progress..!
