Factors influencing likelihood of developing a choline deficiency on a low vA diet
Quote from Tommy on February 6, 2023, 5:27 amI have to say that sounds so incredibly pseudo-scientific beyond belief.
There are people that have lived long and fruitful lives on plant based diets but I’m led to believe you need an insane amount of choline to prevent a deficiency. Not to mention the human body produces choline naturally.
I’m not doubting for a second that choline is incredibly important and is a key factor in detoxification pathways, but to me the idea that you can’t get enough choline from consuming fair amounts of choline rich foods like meat sounds absurd.
What did our ancestors do all day? Hunt for eggs so they can down a dozen a day to meet the arbitrary choline requirement that is being speculated in here?
I appreciate what you’re trying to do here and do enjoy reading about everyones different ideas but it does get annoying when speculation and theories are being presented as facts.

The whole vitamin a toxin concept is theory too, yet here you are and everyone here is "speculating" how to deal with it using the same methods: some research mixed with anecdotal evidence. None of what we are doing here is hard solid fact. So I'm going to keep posting here about choline no matter what you believe. Good detox luck.
PS It does not take a dozen eggs, no one here is saying that. Also comparing an ancestral life to life today is a futile endeavor. Nothing, not ONE thing is like it was even a few hundred years ago so good luck "speculating" what made ancestral health and trying to replicate it with today's foods and food availability.
We also don't know how healthy our ancestors were. They were probably suffering from various nutritional deficiencies and plagued with illnesses leading them to live a shorter life. Having longer lifespans gives us longer timeframes to accumulate more toxins.

There are literally still tribes out there that are living hunter gatherer lifestyles passed down from thousands of years. They don’t suffer from chronic illness so I’m not sure where you get this idea that our ancestors were ‘plagued with illnesses’.
