Fat
Quote from El on May 21, 2023, 6:19 amDid you know that intestinal bacteria convert fiber into short-chain fatty acids? converts them to saturated fat. that is, the fiber is converted to saturated fat in buritate. The more fiber, the more saturated fat our intestinal bacteria create. That saturated fat that intestinal bacteria create through fiber, do you know what foods have it? milk, cheese, butter. we are promoting low fat diet. and fiber is converted to a large part into fat at the intestinal level.

It is interesting that point we try to promote a low-fat diet. and eating a lot of carbohydrates the liver turns them into fat and on top of that the bad and inflammatory fat. saturated fat instead is converted into mitochondrial energy and visceral fat is lowered. but that saturated fat in a diet high in carbohydrates, especially refined ones, is the worst. that is to say, eating white rice with a lot of saturated fat is harmful

Quote from Jiří on May 21, 2023, 7:28 am@el you mix all types of carbs and sugars together? Really? I think that there is a big difference between for example rice which is starch chains of glucose and sucrose which is 50% glucose and 50% fructose. Fructose will be much more problematic because it can be metabolized only in the liver, but glucose from starch can be easily stored as glycogen everywhere in muscle tissue. Also do some research on how much fat can body make from glucose per day. It is very small amount. In real world people get fat because they eat excess of calories from mixed diet and what is stored as fat in the body is mostly dietary fat obviously not fat from carbs.. If you have excess of energy the body will use carbs as energy and store excess of dietary fat that is not needed for all kinds of functions in the body. How much fat the body needs to make hormones, for nervous system, brain etc.? I would say not much. For sure not the amount that most people eat on mixed diets.. But excess of carbs from starch can be used to speed up metabolism and to burn that excess via thermogenesis. Which is also helpful for immune system etc.. But why would you eat a lot of dietary fat? That btw is also basically just calorie source without any micronutrients. Lets say you eat more carbs from potatoes, quinoa, fruits etc.. There is a lot of micronutrients with the carbs. But when you eat just fatty meats? The fat is basically refined source of calories with no other benefit.. Good example of how it's hard to gain fat on high carb diets are vegans that follow whole food high carb low fat diet. They eat starches and sugars all day and they are skin and bones.. Why you think athletes, bodybuilders etc. eat mostly starch and lean sources of protein? Because it is good for buildling muscles, keeping muscle glycogen high and body fat gain low. I was doing bodybuilding 10 years and in my biggest I was eating up to 500-600g of carbs(mostly white rice, rice cakes, oats, bananas, maltodextrin) a day + 200-250g of protein(mostly chicken breast, whey protein) with fat under 50 and I was really lean.. If I would lower carbs and increase fats I would be fat as a pig..

saturated fats make you lose weight a high-fat diet makes you lose weight. Since they are rich in stearic fatty acid, that acid in the body burns fat and stops it. But those saturated fats get fat from the mix of polyunsaturated fat and refined carbs, not whole carbs. Eating beef tallow cheese or eggs makes me lose weight because they are rich in stearic acid. but if I eat cheese with white bread or fried food it makes me fat. I got to eat seasons of 5000 calories a day. sitting all day on the sofa. and lose weight. fats make you lose weight. carbohydrates do not lose weight. refined carbohydrates and puff fat mixed with refined carbohydrates is what makes you fat. The issue of calories is not like that. You can eat 10,000 calories a day and lose weight. and eat 1000 calories a day and gain weight. And the body does not create the fatty acids, it is the intestinal bacteria through the fiber. and refined carbohydrates have no fiber. therefore fat is not bad, the body creates it the same. and you can also be without it since the body creates it through the fiber. that is why tribes live on diets that are very low in fat but rich in fiber. if you diet low in fiber and fat. you will end very badly. I mean a protein diet without fiber or fat. rice is only bad if you eat it with fried food or with foods rich in pufa since that fat becomes inflammatory by taking the carbohydrate without its fiber

Quote from Tobias on May 21, 2023, 7:45 amEndogenous fat synthesis does not make toxins bioaccumulate, an intake of toxins is the driving factor for that. Adipose tissue is the preferred method of storage, not the liver. It's why dietary fat is often problematic.

Quote from Jiří on May 21, 2023, 9:16 am@jessica2 experience based on feeling. Not experience based on facts and data.. You didn't count calories and I am 100% sure you were just eating lower calories on keto which makes sense. On keto appetite, metabolic rate goes down. So you are not hungry. For sure avoiding insulin spikes also helps.. But don't start with El on how you can't gain weight with saturated fats or how carbs makes you fat.. I would like to believe that nobody here is short minded like that.. At the end of the day calorie intake is the single most important factor in weight gain or loss. There is plenty of obese keto promoters and there is also plenty of people who got in shape be eating junk food with calorie counting. I have a six pack and veins on my abs and I am eating daily 200g dry weight white rice, 100g oats, 100g dry weight white beans, 2 large bananas, 2 mid apples, 30-50g of brown sugar in water. How is that possible? Simply because I move my body 9 hours every day. Even with my diet I am in calorie balance.

Quote from El on May 21, 2023, 9:56 am@jiriI ate about a pound of cheese a day and five eggs and almost a pound of meat every day and it was over 5,000 calories. which came to say that the fat will be the same via endogenous than exogenous. a low fat diet and a high fat diet is good depending on what you add to it. A diet low in fat and fiber is harmful. High fiber, low fat diet is healthy.

Can you also talk to Jason Fung and Pradip Jamnades on why they and their thousands of patients are wrong.

It's the thermodynamics bb (damn I said the word, hope it doesn't summon the bart kay's fans)

Wrong in what? That they lost weight on intermittent fasting? Sure you can, if the fasting causes a caloric deficit.
I love how you guys always act like arbiters of truth and want sources. Never giving them yourselves. You're just a troll.
Why are you even at this forum at this point. Vitamin A is healthy, proven fact. Do you want sources for that? I can give many.
A lot of people here give their experiences, and reasons as to why they reach the conclusions they reached. You can then disagree with them, and weigh their opinions and arguments differently. But they aren't wrong.
Too many arbiters of truth who treat their own opinions and experiences as fact, and other's facts as opinions.
