Fats on low A diet: anecdotes & experiences
Quote from Guest on March 4, 2019, 11:00 pmI don't see any mention of caprylic acid in the discussions about coconut oil. It is an 8-chain saturated fatty acid. It has amazing health benefits and I would really like to continue to use it so I hope it does not have a negative effect of detoxing. (It is the part of coconut oil used to make Bulletproof Coffee, popularized by Dave Asprey. It boosts mental function and serves as a source of quick energy. It is a clean burning fat that leaves no harmful metabolites.)
Does anyone know why coconut oil is thought to be detrimental and if so, which of the 3 kinds of fat it contains is a problem?

The stearic acid is the problem with coconut oil, it potentiates VA somehow. You can eat MCT oil, the stearic acid has been removed. I get VA symptoms from coconut oil but not from MCT coconut oil.

Quote from Guest on March 5, 2019, 7:40 amI've been on the diet for 5 months and thought it might be safe to try some high fat canned coconut milk in my coffee - I felt sooo bad for the 2 days I had it. Will see if I feel better today but so far so good.

Quote from Guest on March 5, 2019, 2:37 pmHarry, I eat a lot of chocolate, but only sugar-free. There are some wonderful ones made with oligofructose and stevia or monk fruit. Would that make a difference?

Quote from Guest on March 5, 2019, 2:46 pmOK, I think my question has been answered. 8-chain coconut oil is OK! Yea! I'm back to having a tablespoon of it in my morning coffee along with a little clarified butter. Life is good.
