Quote from Guest on November 12, 2018, 3:53 pmBella, could you please tell me what foods you are eating? Also, I have had some quite painful detox symptoms--mostly severe bone pain. Have you experienced painful detoxing symptoms? Of course, the symptoms have subsided and once gone, better health has been the reward!!
Thanks for sharing your experiment

Quote from Bella on November 12, 2018, 5:07 pmSure,
Rice and rice noodles
White gluten free bread
Bison
Beef
White potatoes
Raisins
Macadamia nuts
Mushrooms
Coconut meat and oil (it seems like this is not recommended due to stearic or palmitic acid but I've been tolerating coconut products so far)
PB2 (powdered peanut butter) / appears to be allergenic for many people
Cherry preserves, grape jelly
Coffee, soda, lemonade, sparkling water
Corn grits and tortillas
Black beans
Great Northern beans
Plain potato chips
Bosc and Bartlett Peat's
Apple sauce
Olive oil
Oxtail
Collagen (beef)
White sugar
Honey
Occasional chicken, pork (not zero A but low)
Tilapia
Scallops
Lobster
Turkey lunchmeat
Cauliflower
I'm still trying to refine things but this list is primarily what I've been eating since July. Mainly I've been trying to keep somewhat flexible in order to eat with my family and have some variety and convenience. I can pretty easily keep my intake between 1-4% DV with these foods although I prefer 0% when possible.

Quote from Bella on November 13, 2018, 8:02 amYou’re welcome DS. What foods are working out for you?
I figured I’d add a couple more signs of progress that I’ve noticed recently.
Blood pressure is down from 135/90 to 118/78!
My menopause symptoms are easing up and improving. Specifically mild hirsutism and severe vaginal dryness and irritation. These symptoms started almost 3 years ago and despite trying numerous conventional and alternative treatments I was still suffering. Like so many issues I believed it was just something I had to contend with and moderate symptom relief was the best I could achieve. Now after 4 months I’ve been able to discontinue the cream for controlling facial hair growth and reduce my HRT to a more reasonable dosage. I noticed the menopause improvements about a month ago but I wanted to make sure they didn’t get worse again before reporting. So far they seem to be continuing to gradually improve. It makes me wonder if women experiencing a difficult menopause might not just have a toxic level of A that blocks their sex hormones.

Retinoic acid activates aromatase, so the excess estrogen could have been abated by reducing your vitamin A intake.

Quote from Bella on November 13, 2018, 11:08 amI appreciate you passing it on Harry. We are all just learning from one another after all and we can’t do so without sharing information whether it is scientific studies or personal experience.
DS, I’m sorry I didn’t answer your question about detox! I had a long day at work yesterday and for some reason failed to answer. On detox I’m unsure. I started going low-no A right before vacation followed immediately by a death in my immediate family so I didn’t really pay attention. Primarily it seems everything has simply improved gradually but it’s possible I had some detox and attributed how I felt to stress and grieving. Sorry if that isn’t very helpful but that’s the best I can answer!
Oh and I was eating dark chocolate regularly until recently but started to feel like it wasn’t agreeing with me so I’ve been skipping it lately.

Quote from Guest on November 13, 2018, 8:33 pmBella, thanks for sharing your menopause related improvements. Quite interesting! Only yesterday I read a post by Dr. Garrett Smith on the Nutrition Restoration site regarding Vitamin A's depression of progesterone and testosterone (November 6, 2018 post date).
To answer your question: I eat mainly Russet Potatoes, moth beans, beef, applesauce, golden raisins
coffee (+ sugar), water and a small amount of olive oil for cooking.
I continue to see improvements in my health.
My whitish-gray hair has returned to blonde, facial skin has become silky smooth and dark blotchiness has disappeared.
Acute, severe bone pain returned for three days when I ate only two small cookies that had a minute amount of Vitamin A. I'm hoping for improvements in my major areas of inflammation soon. Will post progress. DS
