Headaches

PreviousPage 2 of 2

Thank you again everyone for your thoughts and help.  Today my headache is significantly improved, almost unnoticeable for the first time in a week.  I'm hopeful that by tomorrow or the next day it will be all the way gone! 🙂

Glad you have relief right now, and hope it doesn't come back. I get headaches, too. I often wake up with one, since being on low-A diet (almost 3 months now). They feel different than any headache I've had before... and I can only describe them as "detox" headaches. They normally go away if I get up, drink a glass of water, get some coffee in me (coffee is actually good for the liver) and maybe eat a half of a banana. You might consider adding coconut water (as someone else already mentioned), as it's got plenty of potassium. Also raisins... no vitamin A but they have potassium and other good stuff. I personally would not do very well eating as much fat as you are right now, just saying. Might be something to try adjusting? The way I look at it, my liver needs all the support it can get and fats require the liver to work harder. Seems like I remember Grant saying coconut oil did not agree with him at all when he was first detoxing?

I think it's likely related to Vitamin A. Vitamin A serves a number of signaling purposes, and when you stop consuming it, your body needs to readapt to the lack of Vitamin A. This could lead to a flux of Vitamin A, and perhaps even an excessive amount in the serum.

If you don't mind answering some of these questions, I will try to give suggest some things.

Do you have any other symptoms besides for the headache? How's your circulation? Do your hands and feet ever lack circulation? Are you sleeping alright? Are you drinking any coffee or black tea? Are you taking any painkillers? How much fat are you eating?

What's the connection between fat intake and headaches? And circulation and headaches? And coffee/black tea and headaches? I have headaches a lot lately, and simply drinking tons of water doesn't seem to help anymore. I don't eat a lot of fat, and have bad circulation to my feet sporadically, and don't drink coffee/black tea.

I had a ferocious headache last two days after being in the sun (an infrequent visitor in the North of England) for a bit. Rubbing magnesium chloride dissolved in DMSO onto my skin relieved it within an hour.  Dissolved in water would probably have worked too. I suspect the headache was caused by the creation of vitamin D in the absence of sufficient magnesium, especially since the vitamin D would not have to compete with unbound Vitimin A on a low retinol diet.
