Highly restrictive diet might ease ADHD symptoms, study suggests

Found this article that shows a 40% reduction in 63% of participants in a 2 month period while utilizing a low VA diet (the study doesn't acknowledge it being low VA, however).

@sean, great find! For most of us here the diet used in the study would seem hardly restrictive.
“In the case of this study, the most stringent diets consisted of rice, turkey, vegetables (cabbage, beets, cauliflower, sprouts, lettuce), pears, olive oil, ghee (clarified butter), salt and drinks with added calcium and water. During the first two weeks of the diet, other foods were added, including lamb, butter and small portions of wheat, corn, potatoes, some fruits and honey.”

I wonder how they chose the foods as some of them are known to cause issues, like wheat.

Also calcium added to water is interesting as there is much controversy about supplemental calcium.

@beata-2

They got a list of known foods that caused flare ups in the children.  They excluded all of those.  The for the first 2 weeks, if they had a flare up with the lamb, butter, etc, they removed it from the diet.  At least that's how I understand the study from the 2nd link.

For me olive oil is the worst product for concentration. With the exception of some industrial products.
