Jude's Progress Report

I have been on an extremely low vitamin A diet for over 6 months now and I have noticed a huge improvement in the quality of my gums. Since November of last year, I switched from deep frying all my meat and potato chips in ghee to deep frying my food in coconut oil. My gums used to be bright red and inflamed. My gums are now almost perfectly pink. There is still a bit of brown colored inflammation, but it's hardly noticeable. I believe I had very painful gingivitis.

About a year ago, when I had some financial problems, I was eating a lot of pancakes and potato chips fried in ghee. A few months after that I was deep frying beef tripe in and potato chips in ghee. At that time, I couldn't afford to eat a lot of meat so the only meat I ate were the eggs in the pancakes. In addition to experiencing a lot of edema and heart palpitations, I experienced very painful gingivitis. At that time, I couldn't afford to eat a lot of meat so the only meat I ate were the eggs in the pancakes. In addition to experiencing a lot of edema and heart palpitations, I experienced very painful gingivitis.

The gingivitis was so bad that I went to the dentist to have the plaque between my teeth cleaned in the hope that that would cure my pain. I was on a high carbohydrate diet and there was plenty of yellow plaque hiding in between the crevices of my teeth to remove. When I went to the dentist last year I thought that I had gingivitis, because I ate too much carbs and that I just needed to floss my teeth to deal with the problem of having to eat a cheap high carb diet. But about 2 months ago, my brother told me that he read some articles on some prominent health sites that said that flossing doesn't do anything and is waste of time.

My brother never flosses and he has never had gingivitis. In fact, my twin brother's teeth has a lot more plaque than I do because he doesn't know how to floss his teeth properly. He insisted that flossing was a waste of my time and also insisted that I don't know how to brush my teeth properly. By the time my brother had told me that I don't know how to brush my teeth, I had examined both his mouth and my own and realized that I had no visible plaque anywhere on or in my teeth, but he has a thick layer of plaque on his lower canine teeth. I also realized that my brother doesn't know how to brush his teeth, when I noticed the thick layer of plaque behind his lower canine teeth. Despite having far more plaque than I do, my identical twin brother has far healthier gums and his gums have been healthier than my gums for years.

For about 10 years since I was 18 years of age, I had eaten several kilograms of vitamin A enriched margarine each and every year. My brother, rarely ate bread and margarine and when he did he ate only 2-3 slices of bread and margarine. But whenever I ate bread and margarine I ate an entire loaf of bread with a thick of layer of margarine lathered on both sides of each slice of bread. My brother is still on a moderately high vitamin A diet. Most of his vitamin A comes from fat free skimmed powder milk and the parsley he sometimes adds to his salads (he rarely eats salads). But his gums remain perfectly pink and still look healthier than mine.

About 2 months ago I had stopped flossing my teeth because of all the bleeding I experienced whenever I did so. For about 4 months I ate a lot of brown beans and rice with chicken necks deep fried in coconut oil. For the past 2 months I have been eating chicken soup, chicken necks and minced meat. My gums have continued to heal and have become increasingly pink. I'm now convinced that a decade of eating a high vitamin A diet gave me terrible gingivitis in 2021.

Unfortunately, my detrusor sphincter dyssynergia (DSD) hasn't gone away. When I was eating pancakes and potatoes chips fried in ghee I was waking up 2-3 times per night to pee. Nowadays, I only wake up once per night to pee. But I've noticed that the frequency of my nighttime urination varies more with my carbohydrate intake than my vitamin A intake. I also continue to experience a lot of edema whenever  I eat bread (with or without butter) or soy. I'm now trying to adopt a carnivore diet without any cooking oil. Healthy cooking oils are just too damn expensive. I'm now trying to live off of microwave oven fried minced beef.

Thanks for sharing.

I’ve associated edema in myself with a possible B1 deficiency. Your description just made me wonder as white carbs deplete B1. If white carbs are bringing on symptoms I’d look at B1 rich foods perhaps. There is a lot of chat about B1 (thiamin/thiamine) by @ourania and others on here.
