L-Glutamine for Gut Lining Repair

PreviousPage 2 of 2

Thanks, @christian! What a magical time we live in, lmao. 😁😁✨😂

@puddleduck

Well, there's one caveat: Why on earth are papers behind a paywall? Obviously science is a market, like selling coffee, medicine, and many others. We have a lot of problems because capitalistic ideas are applied to everything. Just wait until we have to pay for the air we breathe. I'm only half joking. In that sense, I'm not sure what great times we're living in. But I'm glad you found the site useful.

Cancer feeds on glutamine, so if you have cancer then it's a bad idea. Also if you have excitotoxicity issues then taking l glutamine will be a disaster in the long run. That being said I do think it is good for leaky gut, I have used low dose in the last few months occassioanly and it made my stools dark brown and solid, it also gave me a strong GABAergic effect.

Is anyone @puddleduck, @bella, @alexm

still taking L-Glutamine?  I have wondered about it for repairing leaky gut but I think I had some side effects from it years ago so I haven't tried it again.

I still have some in my cabinet but I’m currently on a hiatus from all supplements because I need to get back to baseline and reassess everything. I will probably revisit it at some point though. I do these breaks periodically because I tend to read something that sounds good and then get carried away with things and before you know it I’m taking a bunch of supplements (again) and I don’t know what is helping and what isn’t. I don’t remember glutamine doing anything negative at least which is something I can’t say about many other supplements I’ve taken over the years.

Thanks @bella , I, too, am trying to limit supplements.  I just wish I could eat wheat again and thought the L-glutamine might help.

I personally stopped taking all supplements. I feel like they expedited a lot of the issues I'm currently dealing with and have unforeseen consequences. I highly doubt there's anything we need that can't (and shouldn't) be obtained from whole or very minimally processed foods where everything comes packaged together with what the body needs to properly process it all and in the correct amounts.

I think it’s worth a try. Trying to see if you can eat wheat again is a good goal. The last time I tried in 2022 it didn’t work out for me but apparently many people in the low vA community have been successful. It seems I really do have celiac as diagnosed unfortunately.
Trying one supplement for a specific purpose like you are planning to do is way different from the situation I found myself drifting back into of taking multiple ones and just feeling worse.
