To begin with, the "theory" is based on many observations so it is based on fact but I don't want to spend much time on proving anything so it's up to you to look for the proofs if you do need them. Otherwise you can try the simple following short experiences and see by yourself whether it works or not:
a) try to drink 5 liters of San Pellegrino water for 2 days
b) try the breathing method explained in my other post just for 2 days
c) try drinking 5 liters of Volvic water for 3 days in a row
a and b should give you immediate relief of many of your "detox" symptoms; c should give you a strong headache (which is a good sign it works); if that's the case then the "theory" below will work for you
"Theory" in a few words:
Vitamin A toxicity and toxic metals such as aluminum etc. lead to the following:
- The pH of blood is lowered. The pH MUST be tightly controlled so the body will draw alkaline minerals such as calcium, magnesium, etc. and also some rare minerals such as lithium. Basically the body does this to maintain the equilibrium because if it doesn't do that, your system would acidify too much and you would die
- The blood is not well oxygenated, as well as the whole body with leads to many disfuntions
- The kidneys and liver have a huge burden and don't function optimally (the kidney, for example, don't filter the blood correctly anymore, and don't act metabolically as they should, for example in converting vit D to 1,25 form and making hormones which oxygenate the blood and the system)
All the above puts your body in a hypoxic, acidic, alkaline mineral depleted body. MOREOVER, the vitamin D conversion to the 1,25 form (active form) doesn't work (probably the most important element in the human system).
The whole bunch of things gives you the "detox" symptoms you experience AND slows down your detoxification of "A" and basically gives you a low quality of Life.
To COUNTER this:
- Relieve/restore the function of the kidneys and the liver as much as possible
- Alkalize the body as much as possible
- Oxygenate the body as much as possible
- TEST your hair AND tissues and SUPPLEMENT the alkaline minerals which are missing, usually I saw that it is calcium, magnesium and lithium (the nutritional, not the drug of course).
- AND, of course, avoid vitamin A and other toxic substances (glyphosate, aluminum, lead, mercury, etc. etc. etc.)
After testing/trying/thinking etc. about this for a long time, the most easy and direct way to do this is basically the following (you will arrive at the same conclusion after careful thinking and testing by yourself if it's important to you):
- Diet of organic beef/organic rice 1 day then a diet of only rice the other day (alternate between a day where you get like 80-100 grams of protein from meat and a day where you get minimal protein and rice only basically)
- Breathing or any other method which increases the oxygenation of your body
- Avoidance of acidic foods/compounds (eg wine, coffee, too much meat compared to brown rice, salt, alkaline hydration, etc.) with a focus on REAL SALT (10-15grams of salt per day).
Basically, if you eat only meat you will acidify your system and it will draw on alkaline minerals to maintain the equilibrium. If you eat your meat with brown rice and LOTS of salt + take a calcium supplement (if necessary), your overall meal will be alkaline and the body needs not draw on reserves; it can even replenish them.
FRESH COCONUT WATER is EXCELLENT FOR THAT PURPOSE and has 0 "A" as far as I have been able to see.
Now, how actually to do this? Here comes the story of the lady who wished to "try" the method. She actually was following the anti-"A" diet and has a whole list of symptoms with many "detox" symptoms and very slow recovery.
Before starting, please take note that she did tissue + hair analysis and she had TOO MUCH of vitamin A, vitamin E and vitamin B12 while being deficient in calcium, vitamin D (1,25 form), vanadium and lithium.
The experience took place at Ile de la Réunion for approx 3 months in length.
She did this on a daily basis:
DIET:
Beef/rice (mostly brown, sometimes white depending on her "feeling") one day, then rice only the other day, then beef/rice, etc. with lots of real sea SALT which she took from "GUERANDE SALTS" in France
2-3 liters of fresh coconut water every single day
2-3 liters of Volvic water and approx 2 liters of San Pellegrino
SHE ATE NOTHING ELSE FOR THE WHOLE PERIOD
LIFESTYLE CHANGES:
- Breathing exercises 5 minutes in the morning and 5 minutes in the evening every day (the exact exercise I have explained in detail in one of my other posts).
- Sun exposure for a FEW HOURS every day when possible (we were going out of summer in Switzerland so her skin was "READY" so she went many hours every day WITHOUT ANY CREAM to boost the internal vitamin D production (no supplement)
- Slight walking in a near forest every day (for approx 20-30 minutes) as soon as she was able to do it
She lived on a volcano basically, but near the ocean (approx 300-400 meters high). She consumed local beef who eats grass on the volcano, the goal being to get the rare minerals we don't have in Switzerland at the same time
SHE DID NOT DRINK COFFEE or WINE but SHE SMOKED 1-2 "mapacho" per day, a kind of tobacco. The "cigarettes" were not BOUGHT but "hand-made" with a tobacco from Peru which has NO ADDITIVES.
She told me by the way that in Switzerland when she smokes cannabis (the real one not the "medicinal one" without THC, ALL her symptoms vanish IMMEDIATELY. She didn't smoke any cannabis while on the Ile de la Réunion.
Last thing which may or may not be important, she did a "metta-loving" kind of meditation every single night before going to bed and told me that since she started that her sleep was more deep and more peaceful. Sleep counts.
She didn't go every day on the beach but she did go many times (as much as possible) in the water and stayed in it for as long as possible (in order to draw minerals from the ocean within the body) and also to "ground" herself.
THE RESULTS: Except 1-2 symptoms which are still there AND improving, the vast majority of her debilitating symptoms are gone. By the way the lady was not able to walk at the beginning of the experience and after adopting the breathing and sun exposure slowly she was and then she walked every single day. She also was completely "drugged", I mean unable to concentrate and needed help to remember everything at the beginning. Now this is simply gone and she is able to meditate and concentrate and "think by herself" with ease. I will not list all her symptoms and resolutions but basically her life has completely changed in the space of 3 months. She did the "A" diet before but adding the breathing, restricting the diet to only beef/rice and rice alternatively, and going to the sun every day for a few hours has clearly accelerated her detox and put her out of the "hell" she was living as she told me herself. AS SOON AS she started the "regimen" at Ile de la Réunion, the "detox symptoms" were gone.
She continues to do the same except for the sun/sea since we don't have that here in Switzerland. She still DOESNT have any "detox" symptoms while feeling much better every single day.
Her levels of vitamin A, vitamin B12 and vitamin E have lowered quite substantially and her levels of vitamin D have increased quite drastically.
From this experience and other experiences of people I know, I can conclude the following:
- Vitamin A toxicity makes the active form of Vitamin D unavailable and missing and this, I believe, make the symptoms (+ the toxicity of A and other toxic compounds directly).
- People who experience a very slow "increase" in health and many "detox" symptoms are too acidic and hypoxic and most probably miss certain minerals. They SHOULD increase oxygenation, increase alkalization and TEST in the hair AND tissues their minerals levels and SUPPLEMENT ONLY THE MISSING ELEMENTS IF NECESSARY.
- People with strong symptoms should LIMIT THEMSELVES TO BEEF/RICE and if they can, take FRESH COCONUT WATER EVERY SINGLE DAY. Volvic water works for aluminum detox and most probably other compounds as well. San Pellegrino restores the bicarbonate system within the body which is a mess in people who are too acidic.
A last point to put here: it is not that an "Alkaline diet" is important in itself; this I don't know; probably not as I have never eaten such a diet and have no problem. BUT people with vit A toxicity and alkaline mineral deficiencies ARE TOO ACIDIC and thus need an "alkaline" therapeutic diet in order to go ahead. ONCE HEALED, they most probably don't need to maintain that alkalinity focus. The best ways to do it is to limit meat (not every day but sometimes), to consume lots of REAL SALT and if possible to drink alkaline water and fresh coconut water.
FINALLY; concerning the questionnaire, I have received 43 answers in total and they are all 100% positive. From the data I gathered, I have not been able to do anything statistically significant (with a strong confidence interval). This is a bit annoying because we could have pinpointed more precisely the real elements which were at work here (for example the sun is the main healer or maybe vitamin C slows the healing for some people as it is an acid, etc. but this I don't know and cannot tell with so few answers received. I'm quite sorry about that and also quite disappointed that more people have not "played the game" but whatever; I give MANY THANKS to those who have done the work. I WISH YOU ALL THE BEST AND HOPE THIS POST MAY HELP SOME OF YOU. The night seems very long but the DAWN WILL COME for ALL. And for those "critics" who will say the questionnaire was "childish" or this summary is not well done, please simply know that I work and travel a lot, have a family with children and do many other things as well, and basically have a very good health so I do all of this on my "free time" which is quite restricted for the moment and only to help people so if you do know better or can do better, next time someone comes, go and help him instead of throwing venomous critics at the person without doing anything to help or improve the whole thing. The world has always and will always move with people who DO AND TRY, and not those who are sitting on sideways and giving critics. Anyway, most people are GOOD and whether you are or not I still wish you ALL the BEST and hope your HEALTH will COME BACK.
One last thing is that I am absolutely convinced (from observation) that breathing is the main thing here as people in "modern" "westernized" countries don't breathe well and don't know how to breathe well. I am 100% sure that good breathing is THE thing here. I am also sure that someone who breathes perfectly will never go into vita A toxicity at all and if he/she does, the detoxification will be much more faster and easier but of course I have no proof of that. I will stop here and let you experiment with this if interested otherwise with anything else that works for you. I only hope this post will help at least one person doing better; if that's the case I will be happy with that. I have no time and no wish basically to read again what I have just written so if there are repetitions or grammatical errors or whatever please don't care and try to understand the logic behind. I am quite convinced that what the lady did works for almost everyone so hope at least someone will try to replicate it. I think you are definitely on to an important factor with the breathing exercises and other recommendations.
I’ve recently learned that one of the important pathways for breaking down and expelling formaldehyde from the body is via the respiratory system. So, I now think that my daily cycling commute probably spared me from sliding back into the detox state. I have a long hill climb on the way home, and my breathing gets really deep and strong during that climb.

If someone can do it and can go to work, can exercise, can do sunbathing - this is not serious systemic toxicity - where the toxins are stored in the brain, in the organs and cause the mitochondrial damage, oxidative stres, severe nutrient imbalances, overloaded detox pathways.
If you read about the neurotoxic effects of VA and the mitochondrian dysfunction, long term accutane side effects, you can breathe right 24 hours a day, drink 5 liters of mineral, spring water daily, you can be alcalic and ground yourself in the ocean - yes, it helps the body, but it's certainly not a miracle for serious toxic people.
Interestingly, seven months on this low VA diet I'm not eating cauliflower, cruciferous vegetables - very sporadically, minimal fruit - one peeled apple daily - absolut no juices, no coffee -I've never drank coffee in my life, I am doing only coffee enemas - 1-2 times weekly, no onion, garlic.. and all the new Dr. Garrett's discoveries (I am not in the private forum but people write about it on FB). We don't have town water--which may be a big deal. Deciding to drink mineral water might work very well in that respect: it keeps you from drinking fluoride/chlorine -laced town water.

I have VA detox symptoms especially after a big meal with fat, a long walk, sunbathing (the worst), hot baths, some supplements - vitamin E, liver herbs.. I get tired, sleepy, my pressure headaches get worse, muscle pains...sometimes gentle pressure pains in the liver area, shortness of breath, dizziness, brain fog and in the beginning heart pounding - tachycardia, the skin is more dry. But I felt the steady progress every month - not as dramatic and fast as some people write here but it was getting better. And how I started to have symptoms of copper deficiency, as if the body had no capacity to eliminate VA because a strong copper deficiency was a higher priority for him or in one study was that the body needs copper to release VA from the liver. There is an inverse relationship in liver storage between vitamin A and copper. Something similar happened to me during mercury chelation - if there were severe nutritional imbalances - e.g. zinc, magnesium, folate deficiency (methylation) or the adrenal glands were weak, the body stopped detox.
I think that some symptoms of VA toxicity can be due to suppression of function of many vitamins and minerals, especially copper, vitamin D, E, K, calcium, zinc.
At the beginning of this diet I had a suspicion that I am copper deficient - my hair was almost white, I tried copper supplement but there was no reaction - positive, negative. As if the body had to get rid of a part of the VA before starting to replenish the copper. And now I started testing vitamin D because I had some symptoms of deficiency, more bone, muscle pains, muscle weakness (I had vitamin D deficiency in the past), first 10 000 IU - but it was too much, I am taking now 5000 IU. And how the body saturates copper and vitamin D, I have VA detox symptoms again. But if you start replenishing the copper or other mineral, vitamin D and there is a strong deficiency, things get worse first as the body builds in minerals and repairs itself. It feels like worsening of the deficiency symptoms - and some people think that it is bad and stop the supplementation. But if the things start to improve after some time, two-three weeks, it's deficiency and not toxicity. And sometimes cofactors are needed, for vitamin D magnesium, vitamin K, for copper - zinc, iron. I could probably do up to 2 hours each on Saturdays and Sundays, assuming the sun is out. I have a Sperti vitamin D sunlamp that I could use on cloudy days, but I do not consider this an equivalent to the sun.
From a dietary perspective, I more recently (last ~3 months) eat mainly white rice and red meat, but I do include some vegetables (onion, cauliflower, mushrooms, water chestnuts), vinegars (rice, apple cider), home-brewed water kefir, a bit of coconut water, a few macadamia nuts here and there, occasional white meat, and a cup of coffee 3-4 times a week...not sure if the mineral waters, large amounts of coconut water, removal of all other plants besides rice, and alternating high/low protein days will have any benefits. I see no potential detrimental or harmful outcomes giving this a try for up to 3 months aside from potential boredom in terms of diet and spending more money on liquids than I ever thought possible.
If I were to do this experiment, I’d start on 1 May and give it an honest try for at least a month. At the end of the month, I would consider continuing the diet, but possibly
- reducing the 2 liters of each beverage to 1 liter each, just to save money and/or
- eating meat every day, as opposed to every other day
Also, I got my serum vA, zinc, copper, and ferritin tested about a week ago, so I have some sort of baseline going into a 3 month experiment, assuming I want to try this for that long. I get blood tests every 3 months and a hair test every 6 months, so I am up for both hair and blood tests in July, perfect timing to see if this experiment moves the lab numbers in any drastic way.
If anyone is interested in following along in my self-experimentation, I can create a log on the forum outlining more details on what I am doing/eating, any side-effects, any notable benefits, etc. If not, I can just report back in about a month on this post.

Lithium I’ve always been deficient in on my hair tests, it was actually last year when I first tried low dose lithium supplementation it triggered extreme inflammation reactions in my body, gallbladder and liver every time I tried it, it would also cause bad autistic and neurotransmitters symptoms. I would also not be able to tolerate meat at all for a few weeks afterwards as it made the right side pain much worse. And it was from taking the lithium that actually first started my issues with my gallbladder.
They say mercury toxicity causes low lithium levels so I suspect when I take the lithium mercury is getting mobilised which is why I get such extreme reactions.
Lithium is an important mineral it is needed to transport b12 and b9 into the cells without sufficient lithium taking b12 and b9 will deplete lithium further and won’t work properly. Lithium also helps retain magnesium. I’ve tried lithium again in the last few weeks the reactions aren’t as extreme anymore as when I took it last year but still causing bad pain.
