Life after a strict diet
Quote from thomas on May 3, 2022, 7:55 amHi all,
I just wanted to post an update on my life after stopping Grant's diet.
A little background about me; I noticed myself be vitamin A toxic at age 17. I did some research, found this website, and gave his diet a try at my own risk. I began the diet by the time I was 18 and stopped it at 19. I had made lots of progress and really noticed that my symptoms were mostly gone. After a long chat with someone, I decided to stop restricting myself and opening up new foods and really just getting off this diet in general because I felt better. (Also this diet was taking a toll on my mental health.)
Right now I am 20 and I'm loving my diet. It's still lower in vitamin A but I get to enjoy a larger variety now (like guacamole, eggs, etc..). I still think about those traumatizing moments from time to time, but we learn and we move on! I still truly believe vitamin A is toxic so I will not eat sweet potatoes or liver at any cost.
Also I thought I'd add that my vitamin D levels were 12ng/mL even though I was sunbathing DAILY to get vitamin A out of my body! It was definitely the low fat in my diet. After supplementing I felt much better and don't feel any symptoms anymore.
Here is an interesting study about the relationship between Vitamin A and Vitamin D
