Loss of smell post flu
Quote from Beata on January 15, 2022, 7:13 am4 month past a mild flu and I am still not able to smell anything at all. Also my taste is affected. I can taste the main tastes but not any subtle flavours.
Over time, I took a bottle of zinc without any effect. Someone suggested vanilla but after few weeks of eating it daily, there is no results either.
I heard that damage to the nasal epithelium causes anosmia. How can I rebuild the epithelium?
If you have any suggestions, experience or ideas, please help! I already have a tinnitus (since the start of the first lockdown) - and now anosmia on top. 🙁

Zinc Doesn't actually help in tinnitus , it's the lutein and zeaxanthin that causes tinnitus

Quote from Jenny on January 15, 2022, 10:08 amFor me tinnitus correlates with salicylate foods and Epsom salt baths have healed this. However, I’m sure tinnitus has many causes. VA toxicity gave me pulse tinnitus.
Ben Lynch has a video on YouTube about oxidative stress causing loss of taste/smell and various products that help, e.g. glutathione, SOD etc. I know he sells products but he does say some sensible stuff (he also says some rubbish like vA drops!!!). I would think that zinc would help too.

Quote from Beata on January 16, 2022, 5:57 am@r, you misread my post (or if it is unclear - I apologise). I took zinc to deal with anosmia as it is a part of most of the covid protocols.
I learned recently that damage to do nasal epithelial cells causes this condition (if this theory is correct) - and my main question is:*** How to rebuild the epithelium to recover from anosmia?
I threw the tinnitus (at the end of the post) as a final gasp because I am very annoyed to be slowly losing my senses.

Quote from Beata on January 16, 2022, 6:09 am@jaj, Jenny it is encouraging that you recovered from tinnitus. Mine started when the 5G tower was installed 200 ft. from my house during the first lockdown. Of course this could be a coincidence and there is some other cause of it. I haven’t had much salicylates in a very long time, so I don’t think that this is the problem for me. Interestingly, before I got it permanently, a cup of tea would have caused a short lasting slight tinnitus.
My question is: how to rebuild the epithelium - if the latest theory stating that damage to it is the cause of anosmia is correct. Will look up Ben Lynch’s video. Thanks. I feel rather discouraged as I hoped that after 4 months my smell would come back - as many people often reported.
