I joined about 9 months ago. I watch it from time to time but there isn't anything new to report. Everyone is still sick and Garrett is just doubling down on his overly simplistic model.

Quote from Margo on January 24, 2023, 8:51 am@jean it provided me with useful information that I believe has helped me improve, but ultimately I had to leave because of the psychological effect it was having on me. ~6 months ago when I left, there was a lot of rhetoric on the network about how “they” want you to get sick and stay sick. Lots of implications that advice from others should not be trusted. It felt very insular. Whether or not any of that is true, it was not helpful. It only served to keep me ruminating on the damage that vA toxicity had done to me, and my life has been better since I left. Granted, though, I was able to leave because I had improved enough to not need the network. I don’t necessarily recommend 100% against it, but I would advise treading very lightly if you decide to join, especially given the mental health symptoms you have mentioned on this forum.

Quote from wavygravygadzooks on January 24, 2023, 12:14 pmYou absolutely cannot trust anything that comes out of dipSmith's mouth because he's a cherrypicking pseudoscientific conspiracy theorist. That doesn't inherently mean that he isn't correct about something or other, but it means you are going to have to investigate every last thing he says for yourself to judge whether he may be on to something or is just batshit crazy. As a research biologist myself who was on his site for about 2 years trying to "fact check" his claims, IMO he is mostly batshit crazy and has rapidly become moreso in the past year (during which time he's updated the Terms and Conditions of his website to state that he can and will nix your paid membership for any reason he deems fit...clear sign of an insecure wannabe tyrant).
At the high cost of entry to that site, and considering that you are not allowed by dipSmith to even begin to contradict him, which makes it very difficult to discuss anything reasonable with anybody else on that site, I would definitely say it is not worth it to you. Also, I personally think we need to shut assholes like dipSmith down, so it's imperative we stop giving him money.
Real scientific learning happens by discussing opposing views. dipSmith represents anti-science.

Quote from Ronn on January 24, 2023, 3:27 pmGarret Smith is, as far as I know, the only one with any kind of health background that has several years experience in trying to treat maybe hundreds of people with vitamin A syndrome (various chronic diseases). He should have learnt something from that which we could benefit from.
GS can also take credit (or is there someone else?) for connecting GG's vitamin-A theory to Mawson's (merited scientis with 2000+ citations) papers about the liver, bile and cholestasis as cause of many health problems (liver disease is the 3'd or 4th biggest cause of death I think), and evolving that theory into a "poisoned liver" theory where the greatest culprits currently are vitamin A, aldehydes (from e.g. seed oils and fruit), copper and Glyphosate. He also works on ways to eliminate said poisons faster from the body and to heal the cholestasis so poisonous bile won't leak out into the blood and wreak havoc as much. Is there anyone else doing anything similar? But just because he hit the mark once or twice does not mean he is infallible. I would dearly like to have alternatives.
That his looks very healthy in his videos, with clear skin and regrowing hair makes me hope this will really work in the long run. I will give it a year or two at least. He also gives the impression of walking his talk (so to speak).
Another advantage is his scepticism towards big pharma and the establishment. Big pharma has killed thousands and got drawn into multi-billion court processes time and again. That is a fact. When billions are at stake morals fall by the wayside. They do skew and corrupt science. Garret Smith cuts through a lot of crap in science papers, by wielding the vitamin-A and cholestasis hand-axe with an anti-establishment schwung. He searches and skims a lot of papers, often in real-time in his videos to find support for some theory of his. This can be interpreted as cherry-picking (something practised by lots of others as well, vegans for instance) He does not do any real meta-analyses with quality control, and probably does not have the competence for something like that. But personally I am somewhat inspired by the ease with which he most often finds what he searches for, often by combining the search term with "cholestasis" or something similar.
But he is maybe too sceptical! If big pharma or "the establishment" demonizes some substance, GS imediately believes this must be good sh..t! One example is MMS (strong oxidizer - opposite of anti-oxidants), demonized by most and declared very dangerous. But he found papers and patents declaring it not dangerous. If I had not read fireinabottle.net about oxidation being beneficial, GS would have lost credibility in my eyes. I am still very sceptical and cautions about MMS, mind!
I would recommend trying out the network, if only to benefit from the other (helpful) members and their experience. Not everyone sucks up all that GS says! And everyone there are trying to cure themselves. Just don't loose your scepticism and self-determination! That GS is a religious, anti-vaccer, weapon-wielding conspiracy nut hopefully does not affect his efforts to heal, (except maybe regarding sulphur, which is bad since it is associated with the devil).

I agree.
There really isn't anything on that site that ones cannot know about from his videos. I thought maybe there would be some ground breaking stuff in there or that the conversations would be more profound but it really is just a hivemind and a primadonna there to sell products.

Dr. Smith’s list of potentially helpful supplements has been very useful. I have run into symptoms on this detox that I believe to be from nutritional deficiencies. He stresses the importance of zinc and selenium, and that has proved true in my case. He also used to talk about the importance of B1 and potential usefulness of B2. The tide had turned on those by the time I left the network, but I can’t speak for what Dr. Smith’s current stance is. Supplementing those two has been extremely beneficial to me.
You can find information about the role of all of these nutrients in detox on this forum, in various comments as well as some of Grant’s posts, but it is in a really digestible format in Dr. Smith’s program.
There are other things in the Love Your Liver program with which I disagree, though - things which others have pointed out in comments here. The biggest one is the apparent attempt to disprove many other nutrients’ categorization as essential or at least to show that the RDA is way too high. Maybe this is partially right, but I find the stance to be concerning. I think I have run into issues by taking my chances on some of them, namely vitamin C, biotin, and fat, with iodine TBD.

@ronn He does not look healthy in my opinion, he looks very pale, with dark circles and no hair.
He seems to be attributing all ailments to cholestasis and toxic bile "dumping" in the blood stream, which gives me a vibe of Medical Medium, ranting on his lives making bold statements without real scientific evidence, more like a preacher.
The high price tag on his coaching sessions is another red flag. Why pushing for hair testing if the only thing we need is a healthy diet that provides all the nutrients to allow our body to go back in balance.
