Low carotenoid foods that are out of the norm

Maybe galangal root could serve as an alternative. They use it a lot in thailand, you should be able to find it in asian stores, and dried powders online.
Cranberries have some carotenoids, not a ton but at least some, 22 mcg beta-carotene per 100g.
