Lyme
Quote from lil chick on May 7, 2025, 11:00 amI have been thinking about how Lyme might be involved in some people's cases here. I read some stuff by a pathologist and got pretty scared about Lyme and it's co-infections. Personally I've been bitten by ticks lots of times. The pathologist's particular point of view is that it is a myth that Lyme is only spread by tick bites and that it is spread in lots of other ways, including sexually. Therefore you might have thought you were outside the realm of that challenge, but you may not be.
I thought there was a thread on Lyme, and there may yet be, but I couldn't find it! So I thought I would start a topic with just Lyme as the title, hopefully more easy to find.
I know that people (like Joe2 if I remember correctly) have said that their Lyme was helped so much by lowering vitamin A.
What is the connection?

Quote from lil chick on May 7, 2025, 11:08 amLyme is a similar disease to syphilis in many ways (both are spirochete bacterias that take many years to debilitate you). I recently visited the Museum of Fine Arts and they were doing a special showing of Van Gogh. He suffered a lot. He is suspected of having syphilis. His brother was diagnosed with it. Once home I surfed a little and found out that MANY artists of various types, and famous people, and royalty, had syphilis in the olden days.
Is Lyme the syphilis of our time?
Another way that syphilis and Lyme are the same is that when you are fighting well (say, you are on antibiotics) you often end up with what is called a Herx reaction. In fact, Herx reaction was first described by syphilis doctors.
edited to add: "Adolf Jarisch, an Austrian dermatologist, and Karl Herxheimer, a German dermatologist, are credited with the discovery of the Jarisch–Herxheimer reaction. Both Jarisch and Herxheimer observed reactions in patients with syphilis treated with mercury."

Quote from lil chick on May 7, 2025, 11:12 amSomething that is the same between Lyme sufferers and Vitamin A overloaded individuals is their INTOLERANCE to ALCOHOL.
Yesterday I read comment after comment from people with Lyme who say they are intolerant to alcohol. And posts by Lyme docs saying avoid alcohol. I have a friend who is very sick with Lyme and the thing that sent her to the doctors was that after drinking some wine one day she suffered a strange paralysis. That was how she began to realize she was sick.
When I first came to Grant's site here, people told me that my alcohol intolerance might get a bit easier once my vitamin A toxicity was under control.
Now... Vitamin A is an alcohol..
My thought is that SOME of Lyme disease is actual damage from the germs but some of Lyme is toxicity from fighting the disease. ie, ongoing Herx reaction.
I think that this is where the overlap may be. By clearing vitamin A, we may be clearing the pathway and avoiding some of the Herx reaction.

- Flu-like symptoms
- Fever and chills
- Nausea and vomiting
- Headache
- Hypotension (low blood pressure)
- Hyperventilation
- Tachycardia (a heart rate over 100 beats a minute)
- Flushing
- Myalgia
- Worsening of skin lesions
This is a random list of Herx symptoms (feel free to google it, I'm sure there are others). To me, it looks so very much like a list of VA toxicity symptoms, doesn't it?
