my hair hurts!
Quote from lil chick on March 24, 2026, 5:20 amOk, I will be the first to post on the new section--with a new fresh hell, LOL.
I wonder, has anyone else here found that when they comb their hair in the opposite direction from where it wants to go, or (god forbid) style it in the opposite direction for a few hours... that later it hurts like a mother?
OMG
Actually my mother also has this problem. Like if she sleeps weird on her hair, the next day it hurts.
I read up on ancient hair routines (like brushing 100 strokes) and over the last few weeks I've been doing more brushing. Then I started leaning over at the waist and brushing it in the wrong direction to stimulate it. BAD IDEA.
I could barely sleep last night and whenever I rolled over it hurt like hell. I had to kind of talk myself down off the cliff about it, because I thought I'd wake to baldness.

Quote from lil chick on March 24, 2026, 5:23 amI wonder if this has something to do with the fact that I actually feel like I have a stomach bug right now and maybe I have more circulating vitamin A?
OR I wonder if my scalp has extra problems because of all the henna I used in my forties (which are orange pigments).
My scalp already was dry (and I thought cutting back on shampoo and instead brushing might help)...
but maybe I NEED to get rid of old oils because they are filled with vitamin A or carotenes from the past?
Perhaps all that brushing and leaning over at the waist stirred things up!
Could this be about that new thing you hear about right and left now: stuck fascia?

Quote from Eio on March 24, 2026, 7:34 amI notice that my scalp is tender if my hair gets bent the opposite way it usually hangs, too. But it doesn't last that long. I just assumed it was because of how the hair comes out of the follicle and the nerves are sensitized when the follicle is moved. Scalp massage might help.

Quote from lil chick on March 24, 2026, 9:14 amI was just reading that scalp pain after "moving the hair around" can be another example of sensory disorders that include inability to handle bright lights, loud noises and stinky smells. (I would also say motion sickness and fear of heights). ie another example of over active nerves 😬?
This makes total sense in my life.
Now, it's very easy to dismiss things like this as "in the mind" but I didn't even know it was yet another example of "sensory disorders". I didn't decide to have it because it fits with all of my other stupid problems. My nerves decided to have it. And it hurt enough to keep me awake.

Quote from lil chick on March 25, 2026, 4:18 amI just didn't touch my hair for all of yesterday and the pain went away.
I suppose that this is one of the reasons I started cutting my own hair a decade ago. I remember telling my hairdresser to go easy on my tender scalp, and I remember laughing with my mom about how hair dressers are so rough on you.

Quote from lil chick on March 26, 2026, 5:02 amSometimes, with these "over-active nerves" "sensory disorder" symptoms I have... I don't really know if they are about vitamin A overload, genetics, vaccine damage, Lyme disease or the result of some sort of other germ or toxicity. I understand that vitamin A overload isn't the only pathology out there. I'm sure vitamin A overload hasn't helped.
One thing that I've read is that red heads process pain differently and that normal pain relief methods don't always work for them. It is very possible I carry a red head gene even though I don't express it. My brother has two red-head kids, it came down on my mother's side. And it does seem like my mother has some of the tendencies I do as regards to "over-active nerves". I'm as fair or fairer than most red heads (burn and peel).
