My progress - Andrew Baird

PreviousPage 2 of 2
Anecdotal egg report after 10 months of eating 3-4 eggs a day most of the time and reducing high carotenoids and vitamin A in my diet for 2 years 7 months. The healing and improvements keep continuing with 3-4 eggs a day for more choline and phospholipids. Some egg supply issues here in UK so probably nearer 2-3 eggs a day lately. I also eat less pancakes in winter. Fat digestion much better now. I used to struggle a bit with butter, chocolate, coconut, fatty bacon and cheese. Now there's no problem. Likeliest reason for me would be improved bile flow.
The digestive system works much more smoothly with increased choline and betaine. Sometimes 2 bowel movements a day to reduce the Vitamin A faster. Seems to correspond with egg and/or pancake intake. 40 years of issues and now it's working better. I'm also eating quinoa, fermented organic beetroot juice, organic spelt wholemeal and sourdough bread for betaine. Eye and mouth dryness has totally gone. I metabolise all the colour in the beetroot juice so kidneys I suspect working better. Increased B1 and B5 foods like sunflower seed 'milk', chicken, mushrooms, avocados and eggs may be helping too. I can also tolerate beans and eat far more cruciferous vegetables than before.
Mood and libido continue to improve. My liver is making hormones better. Lamb kidneys and haggis with lamb lobes also found to be helpful. Kidneys are very high in choline. Choline is the main precursor to betaine and it helps maintain water balance. I also feel capable of overcoming obstacles much better now and getting some exercise by walking to the park and up the small hill. Loads of people eating some eggs on top of lowering vitamin A and finding a stronger detox, resolving symptoms and healing. No need to take so many supplements when you have better absorption which has also been noted by me and others. No need to push the detox with high protein, high fibre, high fat or high beef whilst you replenish choline. Moderation is the key.
Replenishing the choline with consistent 3-4 eggs a day acts in a medicinal way. It's transformed my body as fast as it can heal. Choline and betaine help male fertility. It's another flip side to the high Vitamin A causing it. Choline very important in pregnancy as well. Liver health is at the centre of it all. Learning how high vitamin A and high fat affect the liver and increase the need for phosphatidylcholine to protect the body from the bile salts. Easy to understand why stress reducing choline is so bad for general health and often comes with a detoxing illness. Another few months and I'm hoping to finish the Vit A reduction and will do a final report. A little eczema still and sleep could be better. I've healed most of the things I wanted to.

Brief 3.5 years anecdotal update. Not long after my egg update. Currently increasing cruciferous vegetables, parsnips, fennel root, beans, lentils, onions, parsnips and potatoes with no adverse signs and reduced heartburn.  It's worth noting that all the benefits or symptom improvements noted in previous yearly reports all held. There was never a regression with eating 3-4 eggs for example. What are the major changes ?

  1. Schamberg's disease (not ruled out) with peeling skin stopped after about 6 months and bleeding capillaries eventually stopped somewhere about 2.5 years.
  2. The hard orangey crusty soles of feet stayed soft.
  3. Hair on scalp is returning in full at front albeit very fine and thin hairs. So recovering from Norwood 6-7 (nearly complete male pattern baldness) is a very slow process. Began at 16 now reversing slowly at 58.
  4. Digestion of fatty foods and nuts has remained good. At the start nuts and beans were very difficult.
  5. Parasympathetic activity has improved with B1 foods and choline replenishment. Bowel movements better after decades of minor constipation and much calmer now. OCD does return with caffeinated coffee to some extent.
  6. Dryness of eyes, mouth at sides, mouth in mornings and skin in general has gone.

Remaining issues

  1. Still slight eczema particularly on arms and legs.
  2. Sleep not continuous throughout night. Some dream sleep though which is hopeful.

Current diet

  1. Balanced varied diet that I could continue to eat quite happily indefinitely with some of these winter only. Main foods: lean beef mince (75 grams a day), lean pork mince (50 grams a day), chicken (95 grams), cabbage (100 grams), brussels (50 grams), parsnips (100 grams), potatoes (250 grams), eggs (2.5 a day), apples (50 grams a day), beans (50 grams), basmati rice (25 grams), grapes (50 grams), spelt wholemeal flour (50 grams a day). These are the averages. I dont eat all these every day.

Great progress Andrew, did you forget spelt?. The baldness I am following with excitement, as I have a friend who is going bald.

May I ask what lean mince is in UK? Here it means 4-7% fat (both beef, chicken and pork) whereas in sweden I never seem to find leaner meat than 10% and pork at 15%. So I figured it must vary between countries.

@liz yes, I'll add spelt. It's a bit lower at the moment with less pancakes in winter. I'm hoping this is the year the hair looks a bit thicker but it's still fair hair although some is darkening up. The front section I lost about 23 years ago.

Lean mince is 5% fat and it's mostly grass fed in UK apart from sometimes the winter feed.
