Orthorexia as a symptom of high VA

Let me preface this by saying all food is probably somewhat toxic in some way, but we have to eat.

I was just doing the dishes and realized that I've been "orthorexic" since about senior year of college.   34 years of special diets.    The first person I ever knew on a special diet was a girl I met in college who was a vegetarian.  She died of cancer.  (!)  Did that scare me away from being orthorexic?  nah!

Wars start in families where everyone has "the ick" on different foods.

My A-toxic cat is orthorexic.  He has "the ick" on ground beef right now which he used to love.

He also often only eats small amounts--"the picky snacker lifestyle"... especially when he was in early detox.  I think this is also part of it.

IMO the inner brain KNOWS something is up with the food.

Many of us have said things like "I'm done with special diets!"   ... We read Matt Stone's idea of "eat the food" and we get goose pimples.  because

We may have recognized that we are having a  SYMPTOM.   Guys, I believe it's a symptom.

or·tho·rex·i·a
noun
  1. an obsession with eating foods that one considers healthy.
    • a medical condition in which the sufferer systematically avoids specific foods in the belief that they are harmful.

An old guy I know, a very astute observer, once commented about my orthorexia.  He said you need to eat lots of things and you will be able to eat lots of things.   He said it better though.  He gave as an example that he found it useful to be able to eat MacDonalds without yarfing.  So he eats it occasionally.  He agrees that if you never ate at MacDonalds, it might make you yarf.

I think many, many of us here came from meat/bread societies (Europe).  It morphed in America into meat and potatoes.  Asia does it as meat and rice.   Here is what I think.

A meat and a white-starch diet is the ticket for VA overload.

Add in your fun little additions, as long as they are whitish.

I think it's that simple, and that orthorexia will dissipate over time.

Don't let orthorexia keep you from finding your white carb/animal protein diet that is gonna pull you the heck out of orthorexia.

I would imagine that VA toxic people (or toxic people in general) are more susceptible to be orthorexic. There are plenty of studies showing how excessive VA alters neurotransmitters. OCD/anxiety/depression seem to be common here.

I have OCD, have had depression, and while eating a lot of vitamin A, my weight was barely 90 pounds. I was eating food, but was never hungry, and my family worried about my health. Now I've gained weight and am at a stable weight, and I suffer less from OCD.
