Quote from Hermes on October 26, 2023, 6:25 amWhat do you think is the benefit for facial hair? It could be just as unnatural to shave it.
There are actually good reasons for having pubic hair: I've heard it mentioned that STIs are less likely to be transmitted when there is pubic hair. It's not a good idea to have a clean shaven penis and vagina, which is ironic if you have a lot of different sexual partners. The porn industry promotes clean shaven Barbie and Ken. I agree, I find hairy legs and armpits unattractive in women. Look at men in the fifties when they take their shirts off, Carry Grant, Sean Connery. I think the hairy chest looks great. Also their behaviour is something every man should aspire to.

Quote from lil chick on October 26, 2023, 9:04 amIf you can't grow it on your head, then for sure, grow out the face (or wherever you can). I was just wondering if the sparseness around my hairline might be instead arising on in my mustache zone LOL.
Chickens and cats preen after sunning, I imagine that body oils are spread out upon an exponentially larger field (the feathers and the hair) and can thus go on with vitamin D synthesis and then be re-absorbed later. Perhaps carotenes in the body oil are also exposed so that the sun can break them down.
I've also heard that hair is an antenna, but that is farther into the woo.
Pubic hair probably gives condos and golf courses to beneficial bacteria and both pubes and armpit hair probably hold on to pheromones for attracting a mate. There might even be something about it protecting the sensitivity of the skin below (from getting rough treatment from clothing or whatever.)
I personally love hairy guys, chests, face etc. I think it's a great look. Call me a child of the seventies. For some odd reason, even though I poisoned him with cod liver oil, my husband has a full head of hair at 60. Genes, I guess. Or is it all those eggs I've fed him? I've noticed his leg hair disappearing though.
Another thing is if you keep taking away your hair, then your body will work the harder to replace it, and I can imagine that might be a bit of a drain on nutrients.
Your hair, wherever it appears, is a nice textile that won't poison you like many textiles will these days, LOL. A layer between you and the poisoned fabrics.

Quote from Jenny on October 26, 2023, 11:50 amInteresting opinions on B6. However, B6 has turned out to be the most severe vA detox induced deficiency for me.
Meri Arthur has hypothesised (and has much data to back it up) that VA toxicity causes high nitric oxide. This blocks methionine synthase and causes excess dependence on the betaine pathway for re-methylation. If the diet is low in betaine, the body converts choline to betaine using ALDH7A1. This takes this enzyme away from its main task of processing lysine leading to a build up of P6C which inactivates B6. There is a pyroxidine dependant epilepsy with mutations in the gene for ALDH7A1. This is an important enzyme.
Therefore, B6 deficiency due to inactivation could be common in vA toxicity/detox. There are other drains on B6 such as excess pyrroles and aldehydes depleting B6. B6 deficiency/inactivation has turned out to be a major issue for me (new onset seizures last year nearly killed me). B6 supplements are not necessarily the answer, betaine is. See Meri Arthur on YT ‘Weak therefore strong’.

Quote from Jiří on October 26, 2023, 12:05 pm@lil-chick If you are balding like crazy and your hair line is in the middle of your head the best thing that you can do for yourself is to keep that head shaved. The worst thing that you can do is to trying to hide the obvious fact that your are balding like crazy. It looks horrible.. Look for example on this video and also other videos on that channel. I don't understand why all of them didn't shaved their head like much much sooner.. It looks so much better + you don't have to worry about your hair or wasting time and energy on your hair. I see what are you saying that all the males with shaved heads and beards looks the same, but it is still much better than keeping 100 long hairs on your head. It is just disgusting.. Btw hair is not so much about health. but genetics.. You really can't do much about it. You can be bald in 19yo and be perfectly healthy into your 80s or you can have full head of hair and get cancer at 30... It is about genetics, DHT receptors etc.. I would love to have shaved head and beard and looking like a Viking warrioir.. Instead I am 37 yo and I have that 19yo kid look.. Except I have already a lot of white hair so it is very bad combination of looking young not in a good way and aging.. I had delayed puberty so I didn't have a lot of testosterone/DHT exposure during the key years.. THe guys who are balding and have beards in 20yo are the opposite. They are full of testosterone and DHT which is good for males. That is how it should be.. Male don't need hair to look good.. Woman that is different story for sure..

I found her video and found it fascinating. We usually hear about nitric oxide deficiency as a problem, I've never heard of it in an excess capacity. She recommends eggs for their choline content which is fascinating to me because Dr. Smith is so adamantly against eggs which seems all the more naïve considering her explanation of the biochemical pathways.

It makes me sad that you nice young men have to deal with this and I understand it isn't easy. Actually, I think he is handsome both ways. But having hair might be more natural.

The thread discussion was about the problem of B6 being casually singled out for everyone to focus on, not about if B6 deficiency can ever occur or not.
This is why it's a problem for nutrition influencers to just casually single out B6 as one of the most important nutrients to focus on:
- Studies measuring serum levels in hospital patients show that toxicity is far more common than deficiency and that deficiency rates are low.
- Deficiency rates of other B vitamins are much higher.
- Supplements often contain megadoses of pyridoxine which can lead to toxicity in a significant number of people.
- Use of any amount of pyridoxine in supplements is unjustified given the active form PLP is suitable for use in supplements.
- B6 toxicity has been known about for around 90 years.
- Megadoses of any form in a B complex are unjustified given the risks.
- The toxic dose varies individually, it's probably determined by liver health.
- If someone believes they are deficient in it despite getting sufficient amounts from diet or supplementation they should consider getting their levels tested to see if they are correct before increasing their intake because pyridoxine toxicity causes B6 deficiency symptoms.

Which kind of lecithin do you prefer or think is best? I see a lot of sunflower lecithin powders on Amazon, but there is also soy lecithin.

I use soy lecithin. A lot of soy lecithin says non GMO which I think is good.
Sunflower lecithin isn't much more expensive I don't think, that's a good option too.
