@tim-2

Print that out and glue it on your World's Smartest Person certificate after you're done jacking off to PubMed, you've fully earned it.

Well, that one just crossed the line.

Will there be a point where he can be unbanned @ggenereux2014 ?

I quite liked a lot of his contributions to this forum.

I think it is good to keep this a family-oriented site!   My vote would be to let him back if he promises to keep his banter rated G (for General Audience).

I'm sad that Grant had to get himself into an uproar over this, and I hope it didn't ruin his day.

Where ever people talk about high-controversy things such as health, politics, religion...online tiffs happen.    For me it's best to stay away from conversations like that after a certain time of day.   I don't need anything extra keeping me awake, LOL.  Strictly Kitten Videos from that time of day on,  LOL.

I’m not sure why I’m getting downvoted. I haven’t said anything negative or unreasonable I think…

The thing is, this is a small forum, but in my eyes it is an important one. Wavy was a regular contributor and had a wealth of knowledge, even if I didn’t agree with a lot of his views or opinions.

I agree that he took it too far and if he were to continually act like this I think a permanent ban would be warranted.

I just hate to see solid forum members get banned over silly things like this.

@tommy I agree let him cool down and give him second chance..

It is a relief to have him gone.  His contributions were contrarian, and sounded intelligent, but didn't stand up to scrutiny.  He dismissed things without looking into them properly.  It smacks of dishonesty.  If he came back and was polite, but this didn't change, it would still be aggravating.  Social awkwardness can affect any of us, but intellectual honesty is really important.

Tommy:  wavygravy has been doing this for years.

@davidw

+1. Solid assessment from you.

I thought that last post of Gadzooks' was pretty funny tbh. Far more problematic was him defaming me saying I was hateful of that researcher whose article I analysed.

Grant is very tolerant and hesitant to ban anyone. He would have been booted from any other forum years ago.

Gadzooks wrote up a malicious post here earlier in the year mocking the YT videos I made and linking to them. No one here condemned it and most did not distance themselves from him for that..

Your description was spot on and that was actually the bigger issue, not his snarky nature. If people saw value in Gadzooks' posts then to me that's evidence that sophism works. I don't even mind snarkiness in a debate. (A lot of people seem to dislike Garrett Smith for that but I appreciate Smith's trolling of nutrition influencers and his sense of humour. My criticism of Smith is normally just to do with how wrong he often is.) When neither party has to worry about feelings it's a lot easier to just get to the point. It's when intellectual dishonesty appears consistently that I tend to lose patience.

I think when one uses humor, it is hard to not cross people's lines, sometimes. And there is no universal line. The star post above made me laugh out loud, not because it was against @tim-2, but just because it was my kind of humor. And we are all different.
I personally love @wavygravygadzooks contributions on this page, as well as I love the contributions of @tim-2 and @ggenereux2014. I think all you guys disagree and agree vehemently on a lot of subjects, and I would love to see more discussions between you guys. For me, you three are some of the most important users on this forum. And I think you are all very smart, and all definitely intellectually honest. To say that @wavygravygadzooks is not intellectually honest I must disagree fullheartedly with. It is easy to accuse one another of not being intellectually honest when ones arguments are not reaching through. Tim and Grant: you guys would maybe even characterize each other this way when discussing the importance of VA in sight. You get frustrated with each other, and the discussion/debate stops. Standing from the outside, I just see two (three) people not being able to reach one another.

I would vote to let him back in, and I would even love to see a live Zoom/Teams discussion between you guys <3
