@jeremy  "Do you know the names of other folks who had similar trajectories to you and possibly Saladino?"

Basically everyone on Ray Peat forum at least in years when I was active there..

Here is a short video of Paul Saladino's full day of eating from only one week ago, January 30. He definitely is eating some odd foods given his past rhetoric focused on evolution, at least in my opinion.

  1. Maple syrup, is this geographically appropriate in Costa Rica? Quebec produces 70% of the world's maple syrup. Unless you are an indigenous person in northern North America, your ancestors would not have consumed maple syrup until the settlement of North America by non-indigenous peoples. What signal are you sending your body by eating maple syrup every day while living in Costa Rica?
  2. Orange juice - this was invented in the late 1940s as a byproduct of WWII. Freshly squeezed orange juice is undoubtedly healthier than the highly processed and artificial OJ in stores.
  3. The combination of Italian cheese and mango is a pairing that would never have been observed ancestrally, as these products come from different parts of the world. Mangoes were unknown outside of tropical Asia until the 9th and 10th centuries and so are not foods that many people in North America's ancestors would have consumed.

@jiri

I'm not going to argue with you about carnivore/keto anymore because nothing was gained by it in the past.  If you're not at least somewhat convinced by what Paul Mason, Amber O'Hearn, Harry Serpanos, and Shawn Baker have to say (and sometimes Bart Kay, when he actually says something useful instead of just saying NO!), there's nothing I'm going to say that will convince you.

However, I will point out again that Paul still has NEVER addressed the fact that there ARE lots of people on carnivore/keto who have been doing it for over 5 years reportedly without the problematic symptoms he experienced, particularly those doing mostly muscle meat carnivore without organs.  And he also hasn't addressed the fact that the most obvious common element among the visible ex-carnivores (himself, Aurelius, Tufano, Scott from Carnivore Cast, and probably soon to be, if not already, the youngest know-it-all-who-doesn't-know-shit on the YouTube scene, Joey Schwartz, who thinks he got scurvy from eating cooked meat) is heavy organ meat consumption and the sale of organ meat supplements.

So, yes, I agree that they keep saying what they're saying in part due to their source of income (organs supplements).  But I also think they're just plain fucking wrong and haven't figured it out yet because of their strong personal biases (Paul's being that organ meats just HAVE to be consumed regularly because, well, look at all those unique NUTRIENTS in them!...same flawed argument that probably took him down the vegan path of death and despair).

@wavygravygadzooks hehe do you know what will convince me? If someone like steroid abuser Baker will live to his 70s.. My guess is heart attack within next 10 years.

The major players (Saladino, Baker, etc) get occasional coronary artery calcium scans and usually get scores of zero. Now I am aware of heterodox theories of heart attacks that argue that heart attacks are not closely linked to plaque, blockages, etc, but it is still comforting to get a score of zero on this test.

I just watched his latest "what I eat in a day video" on twitter.

Raw milk + "natural" sugar (honey or maple syrup) three times a day. Orange juice once day, more fruit and coconut water....

Looks to me like he is trying to fix something as he was eating completely differently not too long ago. Looks like he focuses more on carbs now.

In my experience nobody that has any autoimmune or skin problem would heal on his current diet. This is an absolutely horrible diet for ill people and I hope he doesnt promote this diet to other people that are suffering.

I have a feeling his high amount of sun exposure and swimming in the ocean (salt water) supresses potential eczema flair ups. Maybe his ongoing Vitamin A poisining as well. He used to have eczema and this diet is horrible for eczema.

I make a bold prediction here: He will keep on flip flopping and wont stay on this kind of diet for long 😀

has baker admitted to using steroids?

anyone see saladino's latest tweets

Paul Saladino, MD on X: "This 10 year vegan/vegetarian now craves liver! Look, I know what it's like to be married to a diet... I've tried all of them. Neither vegan nor carnivore worked for me… until I started listening to my body… My advice now? - Eat real food. And never stop learning. [Threads] https://t.co/059M0rtYMN" / X (twitter.com)

Ray Peat goes mainstream! Further evidence: Georges St. Pierre is also on the bandwagon after learning about "real" food from Saladino. Just a few thoughts, real thoughts: Since when is orange juice real? Concentrated fruit-sugar water that our ancestors ate? Sure! And our great-great-grandparents probably ate liver every week, because it's the most abundant organ in livestock! No, it only appears once in an animal? Major can't compute error in my brain. So how could our ancestors eat so much liver? Maybe they didn't? Real food is a meaningless marketing term that appeals to emotion (some kind of long-gone blissful world we're trying to recreate, maybe paradise) but informs you of nothing. Yeah, don't fucking eat fake food, like fake meat or whatever. But seriously, this is a no-brainer! And don't think Grant's prison diet is any more real. No one in history has ever eaten just beans, rice and meat. Rice was not available to our great-great-grandparents either, at least not in Europe. It's an equally artificial diet hack, just more attuned to a better model of reality. Hopefully. Real rant over. Stop.
