Philosophy of health
Quote from Beata on September 25, 2020, 3:30 amFor the past many days I have been rereading many old threads here. I am in awe of the knowledge that people share: nutrients deficiencies, supplements, blood tests, hair mineral tests, detoxification ideas, variety of low vitamin A food lists, etc.
Yet I cannot miss the fact that Grant Genereux recovered from his ill health eating beans, meat and rice. I doubt that before this he was overloaded with nutrients that kept him going for 6 years.
Another thought I had was about the healthiest and longest living people on Earth. Would their blood/hair tests markers fall into the perfect ranges at all times? And btw, what are the perfect ranges and how are they determined? Are they perfect for everyone? Could the ‘deficiencies’ be just seasonal fluctuations of nutrients?
Sometimes I am awfully tired by my 30 years long holistic health journey - and it seems that the end is nowhere in sight - and I am worse now than when I started! Or perhaps I am just detoxing from Vitamin A and my mood is screwed. 🙈

Quote from Jenny on September 25, 2020, 7:23 amHaha maybe. Detoxing vA can get you down!
I’m hoping that when my body is not coping with an overload of toxic vA I’ll function quite well without supplements. While certain enzymes are working super hard I tend to see the value of supplementing certain minerals (if testing reveals they are depleted) as otherwise the vA metabolism could get slowed down. This may not be necessary & I blow hot and cold with supplements. As you say Grant just stuck to the food.

Quote from Diogenes on September 25, 2020, 11:50 amI have been fortunate to discover a philosophy of health that has helped me stay clear from a lot of health advice. Which would have made perfect sense in the mainstream medical paradigm, but would have served me badly.

Quote from Beata on September 27, 2020, 4:28 am@jaj The question of supplement is a tricky one. Grant did it without but would supplementing speed up the healing process? I think it is very individual. Having been very pro- supplements in the past, I am much more careful about them now. I like things like Epsom salts, sauna and the Bains Dérivatifs - something that I haven’t yet tried as adjunct to food.

Quote from Beata on September 27, 2020, 4:36 am@diogenes then you are a lucky one! I have a volatile, questioning mind and put myself through a whirl of “wholistic and natural” health protocols that ended up in tears. I grieve for the loss of innocence - eating that which my grandmother would have eaten.
I was curious about what is beyond the mountains and finding out cost me dearly.
But nothing will help better than a...positive mental attitude 🤣. So, back to basics it is. Meat and beans fit pretty well into this new paradigm.
