progress grant

a grant put doubt in 2014 that his diet was olive oil rice and meat and egg whites. In 2018, in a post, he said that he ate only rice, beans and meat. My question is from when did you start eating beans? and still take olive oil?

Hi @pepito,

I think I started adding the beans in 2015.  I don't directly take olive oil now. I only use it sometimes for cooking.

thank you. another question last year you indicated that you urinated a lot. Did that symptom go away? Many alternative doctors indicate that more than 90 fasting glucose is already prediabetes and I saw that your levels were at 93. In many studies, all diabetics lack glycine since high glucose removes it. With a glycine supplement, many diabetics lower their glucose by half. The only fear I have when doing the low vitamin A diet is getting diabetes. My current fasting glucose is 64 mg/L. On the other hand, how much salt to take since last year, did you start to take much less, what is your opinion?
I also see that you donate a lot of blood. Each blood donation reduces the levels of ferritin and iron in the blood, which are usually very harmful. It would be interesting to see if many of your improvements are due to donations as well and lower your iron levels

@ggenereux2014 i have a question regarding your kidney function.

You were told you had 5 years to live because your kidneys were failing. And you recovered. May I ask if you know your kidneys function based on scanning (in percent) or if it is only based on egfr blood sample? I am sorry if it has been stated in your ebooks, it has been a long time since I read them. And this thread is called progress Grant so I thought it was a good place to ask my question.

I am asking because my eGFR is spotless, but my kidney function was 29 and 79 (I think) so when I was remitted to kidney team the other month due to new kidney pain they refused to take me because my eGFR blood sample was fine and therefore I had excellent kidneys. It wasn't until I went to the ER shortly after they checked my background, panicked, and had me go through the scannings again becaue "omg you have only 29% function in one kidney". Now my weak kidney has a capacity of 27% which I consider a worsening over 2 years but they consider being status quo. But the blockage is back hence the pain so I have a jj-catheter again. So despite perfect blood sample my kidneys are far from perfect.

Hi @liz,

AFAIK, my nephrologist's prognosis that I had the 5-6 years remaining was primarily based on the progressive increase in the amount of protein found in my urine. He showed me the regression curve of the protein loss plotted out in excel.

As I wrote about in this blog post, I never went back to see him so I've never had any follow up screening.

However, my GP did do some basic blood work and urine analysis about ~ 4 years ago. I had zero protein in my urine and my eGFR was normal. He claimed I was just a case of spontaneous recovery, and showed no curiosity at all.

Thanks for your reply @ggenereux2014 too bad there are no other data than bloodwork. I would have loved to see if you had managed to repair your kidneys by seeing the %function go up. That is my goal, i want to see my little weakling improve, no matter how great my bloodwork is. They say it cannot be done, but I like to believe it can 💪
